Rapper 50 Cent is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department after allegedly throwing a microphone into the crowd at his concert on August 30th, resulting in injury to an audience member.

The Incident at Crypto.com Arena

Video footage from the concert at Crypto.com Arena shows 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, throwing a microphone forcefully into the crowd after receiving a second faulty mic from a stagehand. The microphone struck radio host Bryhana Monegain in the head, resulting in a laceration to her forehead that required medical treatment.

Monegain, a host at Los Angeles radio station Power 106, filed a police report following the incident, prompting the investigation into 50 Cent. Law enforcement sources stated the rapper likely meant to throw the mic towards crew in the production area rather than at Monegain directly. However, Monegain contends 50 Cent looked right at her before throwing the mic.

Potential Legal Implications

While 50 Cent has not made any public statements regarding the incident, he could potentially face criminal charges for battery. Throwing an object into a crowd and injuring an audience member could be considered an intentional act, although 50 Cent’s lawyer maintains the rapper did not intend to strike anyone.

This incident comes just months after Cardi B was cleared of charges for a similar mic-tossing incident that injured a fan. 50 Cent could face fines or probation if charged and convicted.

The Concert Otherwise a Success

Aside from the microphone incident, 50 Cent’s Los Angeles show appeared to go smoothly, with guest performances from artists like YG, Busta Rhymes and Chris Brown. The concert was part of the rapper’s Final Lap tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of his hit debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’.

The ongoing police investigation will determine if any criminal charges are warranted from the unfortunate run-in between 50 Cent and a fan. For now, the rapper continues his international tour while the injured woman recovers from her wounds.
