A 6-year-old boy recently survived the horrific Lucknow building collapse, all thanks to the earthquake safety lessons from popular cartoon show Doremon. The development comes after the Lucknow building collapse in which as many as 14 people were rescued almost twenty hours after the multi-storey building located in Hazratganj area collapsed. According to reports, the building collapsed suddenly, leaving cracks on other nearby buildings.

Among the survivors in the building collapse was 6-year-old Mustafa, who managed to survive the ordeal all thanks to popular show Doremon. In a TOI report, he was quoted saying.

“I was terrified but I recalled an episode of the cartoon show ‘Doraemon’ in which Nobita (the central character of the series) was taught about protecting himself during an earthquake by taking shelter in corners or under the bed. Without wasting a second, I took shelter under the bed.”

Unfortunately, his mother Uzma and grandmother Begum, couldn’t be rescued and saved. Meanwhile, his father Abbas Haider, a Samajwadi spokesperson remained unscathed as he was not at the building during the collapse. The grandfather, Amir Haider, another veteran Congress leader, also survived the building collapse.

Meanwhile, UP CM Yogi Adityanath issued a statement stating that the rescue officials were directed to work and find survivors at the earliest. Further hospitals have also been asked to remain alert.

We are often told what to do in situations such as fire, flood or other similar emergency incidents. However, when the incident strikes, panic often takes over and the theoretical understanding takes a backseat. However, recently a 6-year-old boy in Lucknow became testament to the fact that if the knowledge is imparted in the right way, it can lead to life-altering situations.

Earlier this week, a multi-storey building in Lucknow’s Hazratganj collapsed all of a sudden. 6-year-old Mustafa was also in the building when it collapsed. Interestingly, it was a cartoon that ended up saving his life and prompting him to take the right decision at the right time.

How Doremon Saved 6-Year-Old Boy

The boy, Mustafa, spoke to news outlet TOI and mentioned how it was his favourite cartoon Doremon, that helped him find cover when the building collapsed. “Earlier in the day, when light tremors were felt in the city, I was reminded about the dos and don’ts during an earthquake,” Mustafa told TOI.

When Mustafa felt another tremor, he was reminded of a cartoon show Doremon, where the central character was given safety tips for earthquake. “I was terrified but I recalled an episode of the cartoon show ‘Doraemon’ in which Nobita (the central character of the series) was taught about protecting himself during an earthquake by taking shelter in corners or under the bed,” he said.

Giving a minute-by-minute details about the incident, Mustafa recalled that without wasting a second, he got under a bed. He saw his mother running around and screaming, and everything became dark in no time as the entire building collapsed.

Mother, Grandmother Couldn’t Survive

While Mustafa survived the building collapse incident, his mother Uzma and grandmother Begum couldn’t be saved. Meanwhile, Mustafa’s father Abbas, a Samajwadi spokesperson, also lived to see another day as he wasn’t at the building when it collapsed. Mustafa’s grandfather, who remained inconsolable at the demise of his wife, is a veteran Congress leader and also survived the Lucknow building collapse.
