An 8-year-old in Alabama has been taken into custody by police after an alleged car theft and subsequent pursuit, with authorities stating that the boy had used a firearm in the incident.
An unnamed juvenile is believed to have perpetrated the armed carjacking of an adult at West Fairview Avenue in Montgomery, according to Major Saba Coleman’s report to WSFA.
The police attempted to make a stop at East South Boulevard and Norman Bridge Road, but the youngster refused to comply, initiating a pursuit. Ultimately, the teen ran into another car on West Fairview Avenue and South Court Street, causing the stolen car to crash and end the chase.
No one sustained any injuries, according to the news source. The gun used in the robbery was retrieved at the scene. The 8-year-old perpetrator was taken into custody and is currently being detained at the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility on allegations of first-degree robbery, attempting to evade law enforcement and illegally possessing a firearm.
