In the video, 3-year-old Abir can be seen identifying names of pulses and spices like a pro. Further, he can be seen flexing his brain retention by being able to differentiate between different lentils.
The video was first shared by his mother @sonikabhasin. A low-waste-living enthusiast herself, she enjoys spending time in kitchen. As a mother, she noticed her son’s interest in all-things-kitchen. He often takes to kitchen and helps her mother out when she’s cooking.
Sonika’s Instagram is filled with amazing short videos of Abir trying his hand in kitchen. The video of the young boy identifying spices and pros has since gone viral and has been viewed over 40 thousand times.
The Facts of the Matter
All adults on some level, are guilty of not being able to identify kitchen essentials like spices, pulses, rice and more. As they spend more time in kitchen, they are able to differentiate between toordaal and udaddaal, be able to identify the subtle differences between similar coloured zeera and dhaniya powder. So when 3-year-old Abir was seen being able to do, and more, netizens on the Internet were left stupefied.

Meet 3-Year-Old Abir & his Claim to Fame
3-year-old Abir has instantly garnered the much coveted ‘viral status’, thanks to an amazing video shared on Instagram by her mother @sonikabhasin. In the video gone viral, Abir can be seen naming all the different spices that are commonly found in kitchen. He’s seen differentiating between different lentils, and also the difference between green and black cardamom. The same video also shows her various pulses like chana, moong, toor.
Taking to Instagram, Sonika Bhasin captioned the video of her son displaying her skills with – “Abir loves going to @adrish_lokhandwala to shop for groceries! And of course, he knows all of them.”

Kabir’s Mum & Dad Are “Equal Partners & Parents”
Part of the credit for Abir’s extensive vocabulary is her mother’s love for kitchen and her enthusiasm for low-waste-lifestyle. She often shares adorable videos of Abir helping her out in kitchen and absorbing all that is to know about sustainable living. In one of her Instagram posts, she mentioned how she and her husband are equal parents and equal partners in their journey.
“….it’s because my husband and I share all responsibilities of the house and our child. There’s no job that’s his or mine because of our genders. He likes to do certain things and I like to do others. He’s the one who cooks while I have to take instructions from him on how to boil an egg! So If Abir wants to eat, he will naturally go to his father. If he wants to compost, he’ll come to me..”, an excerpt of her caption read.

Lil Kabir Stands on Stool, Makes Pulao
In one of her Instagram reels, little Abir can be seen standing on a stool and preparing some pulao. His little hands carefully grab the spices, the chopped veggies and other ingredients. “Abir has a new stool that allows him to reach the kitchen counter and cook. He’s been in the kitchen ever since he could walk – it’s his most favorite place in the house.”
