Veteran Bollywood actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik recently passed away due to heart attack at 66 with the last video of his interaction with paparazzi before his demise surfacing online. The National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India alumnus passed away earlier on Tuesday, March 9. Various high-profile celebrities took to social media to express their shock at Mr Kaushik’s death.

On Wednesday, actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik passed away at the age of 66, after suffering a heart attack while visiting someone in Gurugram, in the National Capital Region (NCR). Kaushik’s body is currently at Fortis hospital in Gurugram and will be transported to Mumbai following the completion of the postmortem examination. The news of his sudden demise has left the Indian film industry in a state of shock and grief.

Anupam Kher was one of the first celebrities that took to Twitter to confirm Kaushik’s demise. “I know “death is the ultimate truth of this world!” But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. The Facts of the Matter

The Bollywood industry woke up with a rude shock earlier on Tuesday morning with the news of veteran filmmaker and actor Satish Kaushik’s death. The ‘Tere Naam’ director passed away earlier on Tuesday morning in his car. As per an Indian Express report, Kaushik suffered a heart attack while on his way to Gurugram.

The same report also confirmed that Kaushik’s body was rushed to Fortis hospital and will be brought back to Mumbai for funeral after postmortem.

The death of the the National School of Drama and Film and Television Institute of India alumnus was confirmed by his co-actor and long-time collaborator Anupam Kher who expressed shock and took to Twitter, writing a heartfelt tweet.

“I know “death is the ultimate truth of this world!” But I never thought in my dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend #SatishKaushik while alive. Such a sudden full stop on a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH! Om Shanti!”, Kher’s tweet read.

Celebrities Mourn Demise of Satish Kaushik

Later on the morning of March 9, National Film Award winning actor Kangana Ranaut also expressed her shock on Twitter. “Woke up to this horrible news, he was my biggest cheerleader, a very successful actor and director #SatishKaushik ji personally was also a very kind and genuine man, I loved directing him in Emergency. He will be missed, Om Shanti”, her tweet read.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who has recently been in the news for his spat with his ex-wife Aaliya Siddiqui, also took to Twitter, and shared that Kaushik was a well-regarded alumnus of National School of Drama. It should be noted that Siddiqui is also an alumnus of the same institute.

The Life and Times of Satish Kaushik (1956-2023)

Born on April 13, 1956, in Dhanounda, Uttar Pradesh, India, Kaushik began his career as a stage actor and then moved to the film industry in the early 1980s.

He has acted in several successful Bollywood films and became a household name thanks to his portrayal of Calendar in the cult classic film “Mr. India”. He also played character roles in various well-known films like “Ram Lakhan,” “Saajan Chale Sasural,” and “Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi”, “Aa Ab Laut Chalen” among others.

He has also directed and produced several films, including “Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja,” “Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain,” and “Tere Naam.”

Satish Kaushik received the Filmfare Award for Best Comedian on two occasions – first in 1990 for his performance in “Ram Lakhan” and then again in 1997 for his role in “Saajan Chale Sasural.”
