China, Pakistan, Russia Invited by Taliban
Amid the reports of an absolute Taliban captured Afghanistan, new reports have emerged claiming that the Taliban has sent out invites to Pakistan, China and Russia to attend the new government formation ceremony. Further, governments of neighboring countries including Qatar, Turkey, and Iran too have been invited by the Taliban.
It should be noted that China, which has emerged as the biggest threat to countries in the Indo-Pacific region, has been vocal in its support for the Taliban government. On Monday when the China foreign ministry spokesperson was asked about the invitation from Taliban, the spokesperson shared no significant updates.
However, spokesperson Wang Wenbin did go on to say how China is in support of Afghanistan “forming an open, inclusive, broadly-based government upholding moderate and prudent domestic and foreign policies and live in good terms with the neighbouring countries”.
