After Shehnaaz Gill, Rakhi Sawant and Rahul Mahajan, Mika Singh is reported to feature in his swayamvar. The Punjabi pop-singer is slated to look for his life partner through a TV reality show much akin to the Swayamvar series contestants that included reality show personality Rahul Mahajan, actress Ratan Rajput, and Bigg Boss contestant Rakhi Sawant. It should be noted that historically none of the relationships that blossomed during the course of the reality show series actually ended up working out. According to an ETimes report, the show will be similar to the Swayamvars in the past and is all set to be broadcasted in the coming months. Further, the report also stated that the contestants that will be fighting to win heart of the pop singer will be coming from the farthest corners of the nation.

The Facts of the Matter

Television show enthusiasts, especially reality show enthusiasts often tend to look back during the late 2000s with a fondness. For it was the era of reality show that included Bigg Boss, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Boogie Woogie, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa among others.

The Swayamvar Series to Return with Mika Singh

One of the most popular reality series among them was the Swayamvar series. The entertaining take of the centuries-old ritual showed contestants indulging into tasks to win the heart of a celebrity and tie a knot with them.

Previously, famous celebrities like Rakhi Sawant, Mallika Sherawat, Shehnaaz Gill and Rahul Mahajan have all had their ‘swayamvars’ done. Now, popular Punjabi Singer Mika Singh is all set to feature in the reality show.

Mika to Get Engaged in Show

According to an ETimes report, the reality show will be similar to the previous swayamvars and is all set to go air in the next few months. It should be noted that Mika will be getting engaged to the woman who ends up winning his heart and the couple will take the relationship forward after that.

The ETimes report further quoted a source saying, “Mika is really excited to be a part of the show. Contestants participating in the show will be from across the country.”

It should be noted that although the show’s premise is solely based on the celebrity choosing a compatible partner for them for the rest of their lives, so far none of the celebrities have been reported marrying the partners they chose.

Rakhi Sawant and her stint at “Rakhi ka Swayamvar”

It all started with Rakhi’s Swayamvar where Rakhi Sawant ended up choosing Toronto based Elesh Parujanwala as her partner. Although the couple did get engaged for the finale, only a couple of months later they decided to call it quits.

Meanwhile, Sawant cashed in her popularity and appeared a show called Rakhi ka Insaaf soon after her Swayamvar.

Cabinet Minister’s Son Features in Second Season

The second seasoned featured television personality Rahul Mahajan, the son of now deceased cabinet minister Pramod Mahajan. For the second season, it was Bengali model Dimpy Ganguly who was adjudged the winner. Unlike the first season, the second season saw Rahul actually marrying Dimpy. The couple ‘s marriage lasted for four years and in 2015, the couple got a divorce.

“Mere Khayalon ki Mallika”: Mallika Sherawat’s Appearance

Popular actress Mallika Sherawat also featured in a show called The Bachelorette India – Mere Khayalonki Mallika, a show with similar concept. The show aired on LifeOk and Sherawat chose Vijay Singh, a much younger, albeit charming man as her life partner. After the show’s end in 2013, it was reported that the couple decided to call it quits.

Shehnaaz Gill’s Mujhse Shaadi Karoge

Reality television personality Shehnaaz Gill appeared on a similar show called Mujhse Shaadi. Karoge. The show featured Shehnaaz Gill and her co-contestant from Bigg Boss, Pars Chhabra, looking for their potential life partners. However, the show was put off air due to low TRP before a winner could be announced.
