Akshay Kumar’s mother Mrs. Aruna Bhatia passed away today morning. The report of her death comes just a day after her son had flown back to India, cutting short his UK trip, to be by the side of her ailing mother. According to reports, Mrs. Bhatia was admitted at the Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai.

After her passing, the Khiladi posted a heartfelt tribute message where he expressed what the loss means to him. He also thanked his fans and expressed his gratitude for all the concerning messages he received.

Akki’s Heartfelt Message on Mother’s Passing

Taking to Twitter, the Khiladi wrote, “She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti.”

Earlier on Tuesday, September 7, Akshay also took to Twitter to ask netizens to keep praying for him and his family. His tweet came after he flew back to India – cutting short the shooting schedule of Cindrella that was to be shot in the UK. Taking to Twitter, Akshay AKA Akki wrote, “Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom’s health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help.”

Netizens Mourn for Akshay Kumar’s Loss

After Mr. Kumar shared the news of his mother’s death, netizens joined him in mourning the loss. Cricketer Gautam Gambhir, actor Ajay Devgn and several other prominent people expressed their condolences.

As mentioned earlier, Akshay Kumar flew back from UK on the wee hours of September 6 after his mother was hospitalized and sent to the ICU. A Hindustan Times report cited a source which shared that as Kumar was attached to his mother, he suddenly made the decision to fly back to India, given that she was unwell.

Further, the source also claimed that Kumar had asked the makers of Cinderella to continue shooting for the film and shoot the scenes which don’t need him to be present.

The source giving an account of Akshay’s strong work ethic said that even during professional or personal challenges, Akshay believes that the show must go on.

The ‘Waqt’ Story: Akshay Kumar and His Personal Challenges

Akshay Kumar has had his share of triumphs and tribulations. The actor has given a slew of hits in the past decade, and has dealt with personal challenges. Back in 2004, the actor was shooting for Waqt: The Race Against a Time. It was a film where Kumar played the character of a son whose father suffered from cancer.

However, little do most people know that it was the same time when his own father was suffering with cancer. Kumar had also spoken to film critic Rajeev Masand about the film and was quoted saying, “I have very clear memories of the film (Waqt). That was the time when my father was fighting cancer. And this film also had Mr. Bachchan having cancer.”

He further had added, “If you see those scenes, they are real scenes. It was a very hard film for me emotionally. There were so many times when the camera had stopped but I couldn’t stop.”
