In another incident of a university professor misusing his authority, an Allahabad University professor was caught on camera humiliating a student. The professor in question was seen disgracing a student, having him stand in front of the whole class, and hurling abuses in Hindi at him.

The video clip, which went viral on Twitter, showed the commerce professor, identified as Arun Kumar, reprimanding the student for not following his punishment. The professor can be heard using abusive language and asking the student if he would have followed the punishment if a thug had held a pistol to his head.

In the video, the student can be seen standing in front of the classroom with his head down as the professor continued to verbally abuse him. The professor can be heard using indecent and casteist words and even threatening to ruin the student’s future, as per a tweet which also attacked a video of the whole ordeal.

The NSUI, which shared the video, condemned the professor’s behavior and demanded action from the university administration.

It should be noted that there have been several incidents of school teachers and university professors misusing their authority. Earlier in November 2022, Karnataka-based professor was caught on cam being confronted by a Muslim student, who was enraged at being called a “terrorist”.

The Facts of the Matter

Professors are an integral part of the education system, responsible for imparting knowledge and shaping young minds. However, there have been instances where professors have misused their authority and resorted to abusive behavior, leading to humiliation and emotional trauma for students. In one such incident, an Allahabad University professor was caught on camera abusing and humiliating a student in front of the entire class.

The incident came to the fore thanks to a student in the class, who managed to take video as the professor ripped into the student’s dignity in front of all the students. The professor was reported to be Arun Kumar, a faculty in the university’s commerce department.

In the course of the video, the professor hurls Hindi abuses at the student, who is simply seen standing with his head down.

Professor Compares himself to Goon with Gun

The professor asks whether the student would’ve agreed to go through a punishment, had it been a goon who would’ve put a gun on his head, and asked him to go through the punishment.

The professor also asks fellow students in the class as to how much time it would have taken the student to go through the punishment, had it been a goon in the class.

The video clip was later shared on Twitter by National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) which captioned the video with more details about the incident.

“This is Arun Kumar, Professor of Commerce Department of Allahabad University, who is humiliating the student by using indecent language and using casteist words and also threatening to ruin his future. The surprising thing is that the university administration did not take any action against them,” the caption read.

Karnataka Professor Calls Muslim Student “Terrorist”

Earlier in November 2022, a Karnataka-based professor sparked outrage on social media, after he was caught on cam being confronted by a Muslim student, who was enraged over being called a “terrorist”.

“26/11 was not funny. Being a Muslim in this country and facing all this every day is not funny, sir. You can’t joke about my religion, that too in such a derogatory manner. It’s not funny sir, it’s not,” the student was quoted saying.
