Amidst the second COVID-19 wave, in fear of the coronavirus, on Tuesday, the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation), the civic body of Mumbai decided to not to reopen the schools and colleges in the city till January 15, 2021.
In a previous decision by the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation), a decision to keep schools and colleges closed till December 31 was made. However in a new circular that was issued on Tuesday, information regarding a decision to keep all government as well as private schools and colleges closed till January 15 was shared in lieu of the second wave of coronavirus in some parts of India and other countries as well.
Though the pandemic is under control within Mumbai, the BMC permitted the American Consulate School and other consulate schools which operate in the city, to reopen from January 18, but no such specification was given for when exactly other educational institutes can reopen.
Since the second wave is still not analysed properly, it is necessary to keep the people safe as it is said to be more contagious than the first wave.
