Legendary Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan rang in his 81st birthday on October 11 with his family and legions of fans. The megastar stepped outside his Mumbai residence Jalsa after midnight to greet excited crowds who had gathered to wish him.
Special Midnight Appearance
Continuing his decades-long tradition, Bachchan made a special midnight appearance to thank fans who had congregated outside his home to celebrate his birthday. Dressed in a colorful hoodie and matching headband, the actor stood on a stool near the gates of Jalsa and greeted fans with folded hands and smiles. Videos of the interaction show the crowds cheering loudly as their favorite actor waved at them.

In the background, Bachchan’s family including wife Jaya, daughter Shweta, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and grandchildren Navya Naveli, Agastya and Aaradhya could be seen capturing the moment on their phones. Son Abhishek Bachchan, who was absent from the celebration, commented that Aishwarya was showing him the scenes via video call.
Intimate Midnight Celebrations
Following his meeting with fans, Bachchan cut a cake at midnight surrounded by close family. Navya Naveli shared a photo of the intimate celebration on Instagram, with Bachchan flanked by wife Jaya, Navya, Agastya and Aaradhya. “Happy Birthday Nana,” she captioned the photo.
Daughter Shweta also posted photos hugging her father, writing, “Happy 81st Papa. Big shoes (and hugs) no one can ever manage to fill.”

Upcoming Projects
On the work front, Bachchan was recently seen in the family drama Uunchai, directed by Sooraj Barjatya. The film about friendship in old age also starred Anupam Kher, Parineeti Chopra and Boman Irani.
The veteran actor has a busy slate of upcoming projects. These include Vikas Bahl’s Ganapath co-starring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, the Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer Project K, and Ribhu Dasgupta’s courtroom drama Section 84.
After over three decades, Bachchan will also reunite with Rajinikanth for the Tamil film Thalaivar 170 directed by TJ Gnanavel. The multistarrer casts Rajinikanth as a retired cop.
