Amid the spate of assault incidents against housekeepers and watchmen in Noida, another female housekeeper was caught on camera being thrashed by a woman, who was booked after the video of the incident was shared on social media. According to a TOI report, the woman also allegedly went on to spray mosquito repellent into the female housekeeping staffer’s eyes. The enraging incident took place at Nirala Aspire, a posh condominium in Greater Noida West.
The incident was captured on video and has gone viral on social media. In the video, Kaur can be seen yelling at the maintenance supervisor as Meetu, the victim, tries to remove the garbage bags lined up outside Kaur’s flat. Kaur then allegedly proceeds to abuse, slap and kick Meetu as she was clearing the mess.
This callous and inhumane behavior is an affront to humanity and underscores the deep-seated prejudices and sense of entitlement that exist among some sections of society. Meetu’s husband has filed a complaint against Kaur and she has been booked under sections 323 (assault), 324 (voluntarily hurt using a dangerous weapon or means) and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC.
According to reports, Meetu, was cleaning the lobby when a polythene bag, in which she was collecting garbage, tore open and littered the floor near Kaur’s flat, prompting the abuse.
The Facts of the Matter
Instances of individuals exploiting their positions of power and privilege to abuse those from more vulnerable backgrounds are unfortunately all too common. Such incidents also underscore the deep-seated prejudices and sense of entitlement that exist among some sections of society.
The recent incident in Greater Noida West, where a woman allegedly assaulted a housekeeping staffer over a minor issue, is a sad example of this.

What Prompted the Abuse?
A 40-year-old woman, Rajinder Kaur, from Nirala Aspire, an upscale Greater Noida West condominium, is accused of physically assaulting a housekeeping staffer. The victim, Meetu, was cleaning the lobby on the 12th floor of Tower A when a polythene bag she was using to collect garbage tore open and spilled on the floor near Kaur’s flat. This prompted the accused to launch assault on the female housekeeping staffer, identified as Meetu.
What Does the Video Show?
In the 59-second clip, which has been circulated on social media, Kaur is seen yelling at Meetu and threatening to hit her with slippers. The video shows Meetu trying to clean up the garbage bags that were lined up outside Kaur’s flat, while the accused kicks her and continues to verbally abuse her. In the midst of all this, Kaur bends over and slaps Meetu on the head, TOI reported.

The woman’s husband also alleged that the accused allegedly sprayed mosquito repellant into the staffer’s eyes and kicked and slapped her for the minor mishap.

FIR Registered, Woman Missing
An FIR was registered after the staffer’s husband submitted a complaint against Kaur, and the police have booked her under sections 323 (assault), 324 (voluntarily hurt by the use of a dangerous weapon or means), and 504 (intentional insult) of the IPC. However, Kaur went missing from her house when a police team went to arrest her.
Not First Such Incident from Noida
In September of last year, a resident of a complex in Noida was caught on cam repeatedly slapping a security guard. Sutapa Das, a college professor, was purportedly frustrated that the gate was not opened quickly enough. She was subsequently taken into custody.
