An owner of a OnePlus Nord sustained burn injuries after a OnePlus Nord exploded. The report is in line with multiple instances of explosions in OnePlus devices. According to reports, the smartphone exploded while it was kept in the owner’s pockets. While the owner didn’t sustain any fatal injuries, he is now suffering from injuries on his thigh. The owner of the OnePlus phone took to Twitter to share images of his burnt phones. The explosion was of such intensity that on pictures it appears that the owner sustained deep burn injury. The images also showed one entire side of the phone melted.


Since time immemorial, electronic gadgets have been the cause of some tragic mishaps. The entire ordeal intensified a few years back when Samsung Note 7 were catching fires randomly. In 2016 there were as many as 35 incidents where Samsung devices overheated to the point that they exploded. It was an unprecedented event that warranted an unprecedented call from Samsung. Later that year, Samsung recalled every Galaxy Note 7 that was sold globally.

Since then, battery research units across the world have been making strides in making smartphones safer for consumers. Yet, there are several reports every year where a phone manufacturer comes under the heat for explosion related incidents.

The Facts of the Matter

In a concerning development, a person took to Twitter to share how brutally he was injured due to his OnePlus phone exploding. According to reports, the owner was a OnePlus Nord 2 5G user and had kept the device in his pocket. While the cause of the issue is still not ascertained, it’s being reported that the smartphone exploded while it was kept in the customer’s pocket.

“Stop Playing With People’s Life”: Twitter User’s Appeal

Taking to Twitter, Suhit Sharma shared pictures of a person who had sustained burn injuries. Tagging OnePlus India’s handle, the person wrote, “Never expected this from you #OnePlusNord2Blast see what your product have done. Please be prepared for the consequences. Stop playing with peoples life. Because of you that boy is suffering contact asap.”

OnePlus was quick to respond to the claim and replied saying, “Hi Suhit. Please connect with us over DM so we can look into your claim.”

OnePlus’ Response Annoys Netizens

However, OnePlus’ response irked several netizens who called the company out. “Wow this robotic response is very underwhelming.. Can we have some serious attention here..?” wrote a Twitter user.

Another user wrote, “Tum DM karte raho…. yahan logg apne jaan se khelte rhe (You continue with DMs while people continue losing their lives).”

Meanwhile, the person who had shared the pictures of the accident victim later replied, “Have just forwarded the info as requested by them let’s see how it works, loss is huge.”

Meanwhile, the official statement from OnePlus said that the company takes such incidents seriously, and that the company has already collecting the details to investigate the situation. It should be noted that OnePlus in the past has been accused of taking such incidents lightly.

OnePlus Explodes in Sling Bag in August

Earlier this year, another OnePlus Nord 2 5G exploded in a customer’s bag pack. Following the incident, OnePlus replied to the person on Twitter and said, “Hi Ankur. We are gutted to hear about your experience. We are deeply concerned and want to make it up to you. We request you to connect to us over a direct message so that we can make amends and turn this around for you.”

OnePlus Claims “External Factors” Caused Explosion

As of today, the original tweet by the person stands deleted which could imply that both the parties met with an agreement. OnePlus issued a statement following the incident which read, “The results indicate that the damage to this device was caused by an isolated incident involving external factors and not due to any manufacturing or product issue. However, we remain in close touch with this user and have offered our support to address their concerns and ensure their wellbeing.”
