AR Ameen, son of Acadamy Award winning musician AR Rahman, recently escaped a potentially fatal accident after a chandelier fell on the set he was at. The incident was brought to light after the composer and his son both took to their social media, and gave an account of the mishap, seeking better safety standards. Further, Ameen also shared a picture of the damaged set where the mishap took place.

Taking to Instagram, Ameen wrote, “I am thankful to the Almighty, my parents, family, well-wishers, and my spiritual teacher that I am safe and alive today. Just three nights ago, I was shooting for a song and I trusted the team to have taken care of the engineering and safety, while I was focusing on performing in front of the camera.”

“The whole truss and chandeliers that were suspended from a crane came crashing down while I was right in the middle of the spot. If it were a few inches here and there, a few seconds earlier or later, the whole rig would have fallen on our heads,” he further wrote.

Meanwhile, Rahman also shared an update saying, “We are all quite shaken and are awaiting the results of the investigation into the incident by the insurance company as well as the production company Goodfellas Studios.”

Safety standards at concert stages are of paramount importance as they ensure the protection of performers, crew members, and audience members from potential hazards that may arise during live performances. The consequences of not putting safety standards in place can be severe and potentially life-threatening.

Recently, AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen escaped a potentially life-threatening mishap, where a chandelier fell on the set he was at. The incident was brought to light when both Ameen and his Academy Award winning musician father took to Instagram and shared an account.

“Was performing in front of camera”: AR Ameen

Taking to Instagram, Ameen shared picture of an almost broken-down set with a huge chandelier fallen down. “I am thankful to the Almighty, my parents, family, well-wishers, and my spiritual teacher that I am safe and alive today. Just three nights ago, I was shooting for a song and I trusted the team to have taken care of the engineering and safety, while I was focusing on performing in front of the camera,” the post read.

“Shell Shocked”

He further gave more insight into the incident. “The whole truss and chandeliers that were suspended from a crane came crashing down while I was right in the middle of the spot. If it were a few inches here and there, a few seconds earlier or later, the whole rig would have fallen on our heads. My team and I are shell-shocked and unable to recover from the trauma,” he wrote.

AR Rahman Also Opens Up

Meanwhile, an Indian Express report quoted AR Ameen’s father, “A few days back my son AR Ameen and his styling team escaped a potentially fatal disaster. Miraculously Alhamdulillah (by the Grace of God) there were no injuries after the accident at Film City, Mumbai.”

He expressed a need for the industry to have better safety standards, and said, “As we grow our industry, we need to have a movement towards world-class safety standards on Indian sets and locations. We are all quite shaken and are awaiting the results of the investigation into the incident by the insurance company as well as the production company Goodfellas Studios.”
