The Indian Army paid a tear-jerking tribute to Zoom, the assault dog who fought with the terrorists till the very end. Earlier, Zoom was all over the headlines after news of him being critically injured in the wake of a operation against terrorists broke. It was reported that Zoom was hit twice by bullets, and despite being shot, he continued attacking the terrorists, which helped the army men to continue with their operation.
In a solemn and befitting ceremony observed at the China War Memorial Srinagar, the Chinar Coprs Commander, Lt Gen ADS Aujla and other ranked soldiers in the Chinar corps came together and paid their tributes to Zoom.
“Army Assault Canine ‘Zoom’ laid down his life in the line of duty. He suffered gunshot wounds during Op Tangpawa on 09 Oct 22 where he fought gallantly with terrorists, saving lives of soldiers. His selfless commitment and service to the Nation will be remembered forever,” Chinar Crops’ Twitter handle wrote in its tribute tweet.
“#ChinarCorpsCdr& all ranks paid homage to Army Assault Canine ‘Zoom’, who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 13 Oct 22 after suffering from gunshot wounds in Op Tangpawa, #Anantnag of 09 Oct 22,” a follow up tweet read.

The Facts of the Matter
Canine units in armies and militaries pay a key role in both war and peace. Their services when it comes to locating hidden landmines, explosives, and stranded civilians, continue to be unparalleled. Earlier this week, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps lost Zoom, a gallant assault dog, who was critically injured during an operation launched against terrorist.

Zoom’s Last Operation
Zoom’s last operation was in Anantnag’s Tangpaw where he helped the army officials in locating the precise location of the terrorist hide-out. During the operation, he was able to disable one of the terrorists as well.
However, Zoom was critically hit with two bullets in the operation. Despite being injured, Zoom continued with the operation, locating another terrorist hideouts, and fainted in the end due to blood loss.

L-e-T Terrorists Served Justice
Thanks to his actions, the army officials were able to locate the terrorists, and served them justice by eliminating them. The terrorists were affiliated to the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The army assault canine was rushed to the Army Veterinary Hospital in Srinagar where he fought till the end. He eventually succumbed to his injuries earlier on Thursday, 11.50 am.

Army Pays Befitting Tribute to Zoom
On Friday, the Indian army paid a befitting tribute to Zoom. The Chinar Cops held a solemn ceremony at the China War Memorial, Srinagar, which was attended by several ranked members of the cops, along with Lt Gen ADS Aujla.

Zoom was Part of Multiple Operations
Following his passing, PRO Defence Colonnel Emron Musavi told media that Zoom was an invaluable member of the Chinar Warriors. Even though he was young and only lived for two years, he was part of multiple counter-terror operations. He distinguished himself thanks to his gallant acts in the field, and his energy.
