In the ongoing Aryan Khan drug case, NCB officer Sameer Wankhede has been accused of using his ‘friend’ as witness in the ongoing matter. The accusation was made by Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra political leader. It should be noted that Mr. Nawab’s own son-in-law was arrested by NCB and was granted bail after eight and a half months, due to lack of evidence.
The MLA took to Twitter and in his tirade made references to the fact that NCB officer Sameer Wankhede was acquainted to the eye-witness of the case. Meanwhile, Aryan Khan is at the Arthur Road jail, awaiting his bail.
Background
As it happens with matters that catches media frenzy, the ongoing Aryan Khan drug case is being heavily politicized with individuals taking a shot at the 23-year-old’s expense. On October 2, the Shahrukh Khan son, along with several others, was arrested from a Goa-bound ship by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Since then, the star-son’s lawyers have categorically said that he was not found in possession of the drugs, while the NCB lawyers have been arguing that he was involved in a larger conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Nawab Malik has accused Sameer Wankhede of using ‘friend’ as witness.

The Facts of the Matter
Continuing on his tirade against the NCB, Maharashtra MLA Nawab Malik on October 16 made another accusation against the NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede. Mr. Wankhede, who is also serving as the current chief investigator in the cruise drug case, was accused by Malik of using “friend” as an eye-witness in the case.
Nawab Malik’s Son-in-Law Was Arrested by NCB
It should be noted that Mr. Malik’s allegations against Mr. Wankhede are not direct, however, are in-line with his displeasure for the drug control agency. For the unversed, Malik’s own son-in-law was arrested by the NCB and then released after 8 months due to lack of evidence.

Released People Had Associations with BJP: Nawab Malik
Earlier, Maharashtra leader Nawab Malik had thrown a slew of allegations against the NCB. Claiming that some accused who were detained in the cruise drug case were later released. Malik claimed that the released persons had powerful associations.
Malik was quoted by an NDTV report saying, “After the raid on the cruise, NCB’s Sameer Wankhede had said that 8-10 people were detained. But the truth is that 11 people were detained. Later, three people – Rishabh Sachdeva, Prateek Gaba and Amir Furniturewala – were released.”
Malik added that NCB must be transparent in the matter and demanded that truth must be revealed. The NCP leader claimed that Rishabh Sachdeva was a BJP leader’s brother-in law. NCB dismissed all such allegations and claimed that the persons who were freed had no evidence against them.
