Former BharatPe MD and Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover recently revealed how fellow Shark Tank India judge Vineeta Singh was his ‘hot junior’ during his IIM days and further claimed that they two exchanged ‘flirtatious glances’.
The bombshell revelation came when the now-ousted BharatPe MD was at a university giving a lecture. In the lecture Grover also mentioned that he knew fellow Shark Tank judge Anupam Mittal before the tank. “I’d pitched him an idea once, and in the month that he took to get back to me, I accepted somebody else’s investment, so I ended up saying no to him,” he was quoted saying in a TOI report.
Grover was on the stage, sharing how he knew each shark from the popular reality show. He mentioned how boAT CEO Aman Gupta is a “great guy”, how he met Emcure Pharmaceuticals CEO Namita Thapar the first time on the show and how everybody knew Lenskart co-founder Peyush Bansal before the show.
Interestingly, Ashneer Grover also shared the salaries of Sharks per episode (or the lack thereof). During his lecture at Lovely Professional University, Grover mentioned that the sharks weren’t paid a salary for any episode.
The Facts of the Matter
Sarcasm, brutal honesty, passion for ‘dhanda’, these are just some of the words and phrases one can use to describe Ashneer Grover. His public image has taken dents due to the BharatPe board VS Grover saga that continued for months, before and even after Grover exited the company he founded. However, that hasn’t stopped him from being vocal about his journey, and revealing “truths” about people in his inner circle.
Ashneer Grover Called at LPU
Recently, the former BharatPe MD was called to Lovely Professional University to give a lecture. Although he gave some insights into the world of business and what it takes to make it big, he also ended up spilling some beans regarding Shark Tank India, which made him a household name.
In the lecture, Ashneer Grover said a little bit about how he knew fellow Sharks from the show. He claimed that he knew Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com founder) from before the tank and had also pitched him an idea once.
“..and in the month that he took to get back to me, I accepted somebody else’s investment, so I ended up saying no to him,” Grover said about pitching to Anupam Mittal and his relationship with him.

Aman Gupta ‘Great Guy’, Everybody Knew Peyush Bansal
He further labelled boAT co-founder Aman Gupta ‘a great guy’. Adding that everybody in the Tank knew Peyush Bansal (Lenskart), Grover shared that he and Namita Thapar (Emcure Pharma) for the first time in the show.’
Vineeta Singh was ‘Hot Junior’ from IIM
However, the biggest revelation came when Grover called Vineeta Singh a ‘hot junior’ from their days at IIM and further claimed that they two exchanged flirtatious glances. It should be noted that both Ashneer Grover and Vineeta did their post-graduation from IIM-Ahmedabad.

Didn’t Get Salary from Shark Tank India
Another shocking revelation came in the form of Grover divulging in his salary for every episode (or the lack of it). Claiming that the show makers didn’t give them any salary for each episode, he added that none of the sharks were in the show with the intent to make money.
“The concept of the show is very simple; they believe we have money, and they felt that we all have high-value startups, we’d be able to invest some money on the show. So, they asked us to commit to spending Rs 10 crore each on the show. We said okay,” he was quoted in an India Times report.
