After attacking BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer, Ashneer Grover recently shared the picture of the alleged Rs. 1 crore dining table and further said that the table’s cost is – “not even 0.5% of that”. Grover took to Twitter to refute the claims made in media reports about him having a Rs. 1 crore dining table.

He further added that he would rather put Rs. 10 crores in a business to create employment for people so that they can earn & put dignified meal on their tables for their families. Grover further asked media to not fall for undisclosed sources and added that the media will lose its credibility if they continue to do so.




Ashneer’s new statement comes just days after he had made a sarcastic comment on BharatPe CEO Suhail Sameer owning a BMW car within one year of his employment and him owning a 2nd hand Porsche after finding the company.

The Facts of the Matter

With every passing day, the BharaPE founder vs BharatPe saga continues to spiral to new heights with both the sides coming out with allegations and clarifications. After BharatPe founder Ashneer Grover decided to resign as the Managing Director of the firm, the company has also positioned itself to be on the defensive.

Earlier last week, Bloomberg in one of its reports quoted several BharatPe staffers claiming how Grover upscaled his lifestyle significantly with the company’s growth. Further, the report also mentioned a BharatPe employee claiming that Grover owns a dining table worth Rs. 1 crore and also owns a Porsche.

Is it a Time Machine? No a 10 Cr Dining Table!

Taking the allegations on their face value, Grover on Sunday took to Twitter and shared the picture of the said dining table and further noted that its cost was less than 0.5% of the alleged cost. In his tweet, Grover also asked media to not fall for undisclosed sources, that Grover highlighted as the company’s board, so as to not lose credibility.

“Is it a space rocket? Is it a time machine? No it’s a ₹10cr dining table !!Haha ! I don’t hold the Guinness World Record for most expensive table ever. Nor do I intend to. Press – don’t fall for BharatPe Board (undisclosed sources) lies – you’ll lose your credibility like them”, Grover tweeted.

Would Rather Put Rs 10 Cr in Business

In a subsequent tweet, Grover added that he would rather put Rs. 10 crores in a business so that it generates employment of thousands of people so that they can put meals on their tables.

“It’s not even worth 0.5% of that. I’d rather put ₹10cr in business and create employment for 1,000 of folks so that they can earn & put dignified meal on their tables for their families. Attacking CEO Suhail Sameer

The same day, Grover also attacked his former company’s CEO Suhail Sameer for buying a BMW Z4 Convertible sports car within one year of joining the fintech startup. Indirectly addressing the allegations of having a Porsche after joining BharatPe, Grover noted that his car was a second-hand vehicle. Moreover, he made a sarcastic dig and added, “Ironic that you believe you as employee can afford your dream and I as Founder can’t even afford a 2nd hand Porsche. Touché !!”
