At just Rs. 5.49 lakhs, Tata Punch has been released as the cheapest 5-star rated SUV in India. Bear in mind that the Rs. 5.49 lakhs is the introductory price for the base-spec Tata Punch and after December 31, the prices will be increased. Meanwhile, the other two variant of the SUV wis priced at Rs. 6.39 lakhs and Rs. 7.29 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Tata Punch is a mini-SUV and will compete against the likes of Mahindra KUV100 NXT and Maruti Suzuki Ignis. While Maruti Suzuki Ignis is priced at about Rs. 5.09 lakhs, the KUV100 NXT is priced at about Rs. 6.13 lakhs.

According to n Autopunditz report, over 4.2 lakh Mini SUVs were sold in the Financial Year 2021. Interestingly enough the category is emerging as the fastest-growing automobile segment with top 10 states of India contributing to about 70% overall sales.

According to Carwale, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is one of the most loved compact SUVs in India. Data states that as many as 12,676 units were sold in 2020 with a growth rate of 62%. Meanwhile, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and Ford EcoSport have also showed an upward trajectory in sales.

The Tata Punch in all likelihood will be measurable to the competitors. Measuring at around 3,827 mm I length and 1,618 mm in height, the Tata Punch has a decent ground clearance of 187 mm. It is slightly bigger than Mahindra KUV100 NXT with 3,700 mm length and 1,655 in height. Maruti Suzuki Ignis also has similar dimensions with 3,700 mm length and 1,595 mm in height.

Tata Punch Design and Appearance

Tata is a home-grown brand with a deep insight into the practical and psychological needs of an average Indian customer. Thus, they have given the Punch a stealthy yet muscular look. This leads to the car being a head turner despite its small size.

On the front, the Punch has it’s the classic humanity line seen in Tata harrier and the projector headlamps with LEDs. The black grille below the hood gives the mini-SUV a strong presence and it also features small fog lamps.

Tata Punch Engine & Safety

Thanks to its 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine, the Tata Punch promises good city-driving experience along with long drives and will generate a power of 86 ps. The car will come with an option of either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic transmission.
