Emergency Response Underway as Passenger Train Faces Disruption in Remote Region
Pakistani authorities have launched emergency measures after the Jaffar Express passenger train was halted in Balochistan’s remote Sibi district today. Initial reports confirm at least three injuries, including the train driver, as security forces work to address the situation.
The incident occurred early Tuesday when the train, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar with an estimated 400-500 passengers, was stopped in a mountainous area. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group active in the region, has claimed responsibility for the disruption.
Passengers’ Safety Remains Top Priority
“Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew,” said Muhammad Kashif, Quetta’s railway controller. “We are making every effort to establish communication with those onboard and to provide necessary assistance.”
The Balochistan government has declared an emergency, mobilizing resources to address the situation. Ambulances and security personnel have been dispatched to the scene, though access remains challenging due to the remote, rocky terrain.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that authorities are coordinating a comprehensive response.

Security forces are navigating the difficult mountainous landscape to reach the train’s location. Officials have not yet provided details on when normal operations might resume.
