As per the complaint filed by the model, she had booked a Rapido ride from work in Jakkur to Babusaabpalya. When the alleged accused reached the pick-up point, he told the girl that his phone was off, and instead of asking an OTP, asked her to give her directions to the destination.

Similar Incidents

It should be noted that drivers from app-based aggregators such as Ola, Uber and Rapido have been involved in similar incidents of crime in the recent past. Earlier this year in May, a Rapido driver was arrested in Hyderabad for sexually harassing riders. The arrest came after a few victims took to the local police station and filed a complaint against the accused.

Earlier in 2021, an Ola driver allegedly touched himself in front of a female passenger while on ride. The passenger, who is also a journalist, took to social media to raise voice against the alleged accused.

Later, Ola Bangalore cabs responded to the woman’s allegations, and said that the cab driver was suspended and an investigation has been launched in the matter.
