According to data from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, over 250 children in Bengaluru have been diagnosed positive for COVID-19 over the last five days. This comes at a time when bordering Kerala is facing a huge rise in the incidence of COVID-19 infections, raising concerns of a third wave of the pandemic.
According to a health service officer, the count will “triple” in just a few days, and “there is an immense risk.”
The Officer added-
“All we can manage is to keep our children within the house to prevent them from this infection. Children will not have as much immunity as adults. It is specifically advised that parents keep their children at home and comply with all COVID-19 standards.”

Based on the current data, 106 children under the age of nine and 136 children from 9 years to 19 years have confirmed positive in the city over the last five days. Healthcare professionals have cautioned that positive cases among children may surge in the coming days.

Amid the tragic second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak, specialists have alerted that the probable third wave will be deadly for children. The presumption was centered on the common understanding that the virus targets individuals who are not resilient.
Karnataka had observed almost 1,500 daily new cases in the previous month, and the freshly appointed chief minister, Basavaraj Bommai, has vowed to raise vaccine doses from approximately 65 lakh to 1 crore per month.

New Terms and conditions to enter the state
Karnataka confirmed 1,338 new coronavirus instances and 31 casualties on Tuesday, putting the overall number of illnesses to 29,21,049 and the death toll to 36,848. Dakshina Kannada had eight deaths out of the 31 notified on Tuesday, followed by Uttara Kannada with four, Bengaluru Urban and Hassan with three each, and Kolar and Mysuru with two.
The Karnataka administration has already imposed night and weekend curfews in all divisions and limitations on entry to the Kerala-Karnataka and Maharashtra-Karnataka boundaries. Only individuals with an RTPCR test that is less than 72 hours old are permitted to enter the state.

Entry of devotees to temples on weekends, public holidays restricted
To limit the outbreak of COVID-19 infection, the district authorities of Bengaluru Urban have prohibited the general public and devotees from entering temples on weekends and public holidays.
As per Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner J Manjunath. The restrictions will be enacted on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays over the month of ‘Shravan’.
An order has also been released mentioning provisions of the COVID-19 Regulations Rules 2020 and Disaster Management Act 2005. Meanwhile, devotees are permitted to enter temples on other days subject to all applicable government specifications.

BBMP to conduct a door-to-door COVID-19 screening campaign
The local civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), will introduce a campaign employing doctors conducting door-to-door checks to diagnose COVID-19 instances, Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka stated on Monday. He added, that the campaign would commence on August 16.
