After beating London and becoming the world’s fastest Growing tech hub Bengaluru has done it again. Of all the Indian cities, where the number of our population is more than a million, Bengaluru has been ranked as the most liveable city in India. According to the government’s “Ease of Living Index” Bengaluru and Shimla are ranked at No. 1. The IT capital of India has made its way to the top by pushing the earlier top ranker Pune to second place, while bagging the third place is Ahmedabad among 111 other cities.
According to a press release by PIB Bengaluru came out as the top performer in the Million+ category, which means the category of population more than million, followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Indore, and Greater Mumbai.
Looking at the low scorers, the lowest ease of living is in Bareilly, Dhanbad and Srinagar.
As per the index released by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in the category of less than million population Shimla ranked at No. 1.
After Shimla, the second place goes to Bhubaneshwar and third to Silvassa followed by Kakinada, Salem, Vellore, Gandhinagar, Gurgaon, Davangere and Tiruchirapalli.
The low rank holder in this category is Muzaffarpur out of 62 cities.

Taking a look in the Municipal Performance Index, New Delhi ranks first.
According to the list New Delhi Municipal Council topped the ”Municipal Performance Index” in the category of ”less than a million” population. Others that follow are Triputi, Gandhinagar, Karnal, Salem, Tiruppur, Bilaspur, Udaipur, Jhansi and Tirunelveli.
Indore ranked No. 1 in the Municipal Performance Index in the category of more than a million population. Following Indore the other cities are Surat came second, followed by Bhopal, Pimpri Chinchawad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Greater Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Vadodara.
