Bharti Jaffery, Daughter of legendary actor Ashok Kumar, recently died after battling prolonged illness. The actor’s demise was confirmed by her son-in-law, actor Kanwaljit Singh, who took to social media and wrote a heartfelt tribute. In her career, she starred in several films including Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Saans, Daman, and more. She was married to Hamid Jaffery, the brother of Saeed Jaffrey.
“Our beloved *Bharat jaffery *, Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grand mother, Aunt, Neighbhour, Friend and inspiration has departed us today 20 Sep. We will bring her home at 1.30 pm today for her final goodbye at 403 Ashok Kumar Towers, 47 Union Park, Chembur 71, and thereafter cremate her at Cherai Crematorium, Chembur Camp,” Kanwaljit Singh wrote in the caption of an Instagram post giving a tribute to Bharti.
In an interview to ETimes, actor Nandita Puri said, “Bharti Jaffery was a vivacious and warm person and everyone will miss this affection and warmth. Though Anuradha (Patel) and Kanwaljit (Singh) are family friends, Bharti di endeared us to her by her thoughtful gestures. She never forgot to wish me every birthday. Or pick up a souvenir from her trips. I will miss her very much. And not forgetting she was an extremely talented actress.”
Earlier on Wednesday, popular comedian and actor Raju Srivastava too passed away at 58.

Bollywood actor Bharti Jaffery, daughter of Dadasaheb Phalke Award winning actor Ashok Kumar, passed away earlier on Tuesday. She passed away after dealing with prolonged illness. While she inherited unquestionable influence thanks to her father and other media personalities, her stint in the industry was brief.

Bharti Jaffery’s demise was confirmed by television actor Kanwaljit Singh who took to Instagram and shared some group pictures. For the unversed, Kanwaljit Singh is the son-in-law of Bharti, being married to Anuradha Patel, the maternal granddaughter of Ashok Kumar.

In a Times of India report, actor Nandita Puri shared some memories of Bharti she preserved. “Bharti Jaffery was a vivacious and warm person and everyone will miss this affection and warmth. Though Anuradha (Patel) and Kanwaljit (Singh) are family friends, Bharti di endeared us to her by her thoughtful gestures,” she said.

For the unversed Bharti Jaffery acted in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Saans and Daman. She was married to Hamid Jaffrey, the brother of Saeed Jaffery. She is survived by her daughter Anuradha Patel, and Preeti Ganguly and Aroop Ganguly are her siblings. Further, she is related to Shershah actor Kiara Advani. Kiara is the step-great-granddaughter of Ashok Kumar, and also the grandniece of Saeed Jaffery.
