A day after he brew storm over his inappropriate clothing, the Bihar MLA who was seen in underwear is now under fire for being drunk & snatching co-passenger’s ring. On September 4, Bihar MLA Gopal Mandal made buzz by walking around his train compartment wearing a flimsy vest and underwear.

Later the same day, the MLA tried to control the narrative of the news and gave certain clarifications. However, the recent allegations raise questions on what really transpired that fateful evening in the train.

The Facts of the Matter
Recently, a JDU (Janata Dal – United) MLA had his share of embarrassment. Mr. Gopal Mandal was caught walking around in a train wearing a flimsy white colored vest and an underwear beneath it. Some people clicked Mr. Mandal in his inappropriate avatar and soon, the images were spread all across the internet.
It so happened that the JDU MLA was onboard the Tejas Rajdhani express which was on its way to New Delhi from Patna. The MLA was traveling in the AC first class compartment. Little did the MLA know that the journey will make him viral – for the most inappropriate of the reasons.
The Reported Timeline of Events
As mentioned above, Mr. Mandal was caught wearing an underwear and a vest, to which, fellow passengers took offense and complained on the inappropriate behaviour. Soon the incident turned into a heated argument between both the sides.
Finally, the ticket collector and personnel from the Railway Police Force (RPF) intervened and tried pacifying both the parties. After the incident received its fair share of f traction, East Central Railway’s Chief Public Relation Officer, Mr. Rajesh Kumar gave an official statement.
“Fellow passengers complained about the behaviour of MLA. The police and the ticket examiner persuaded both parties,” Mr. Rajesh said.

“Stomach was upset”: MLA Gopal Mandal Clears the Air
Meanwhile, in an attempt to share his side of the story, MLA Gopal Mandal spoke to the media and claimed that he was in his underwear as his “stomach was upset”. An NDTV report quoted Mr. Mandal saying, “I was suffering from dysentery. As soon as the journey began I felt the need to go to the washroom. So, I ripped off my kurta and pyjama and made a dash to the toilet.”

MLA Mandal On Making Female Co-Passengers Uncomfortable
The Bihar MLA also clarified on certain allegations made against him on making some female passengers uncomfortable. Mr. Mandal said that there were no female passengers in his compartment. Giving an account of the incident, the Bihar MLA said that when he was on the way to toilet, he was confronted by a man who told that women were uncomfortable although there were no woman or girl in the compartment.

FIR Registered Against MLA Mandal, New Twist in the Story
On September 4, a new development reignited the controversy and posed questions on the true timeline of the incident. According to a co-passenger Prahlad Paswan, the Bihar MLA was ‘drunk’ and even tried ‘snatching’ his gold ring. Mr. Paswan has filed an FIR against the JDU MLA.
The co-passenger in his complaint claimed that when he approached Mr. Mandal, he “snatched my gold ring and chain and misbehaved with me.” The case has now been transferred to the Buxar as the case falls in that particular jurisdiction.
