In a strange development, students of a university in Bihar recently received admit cards with pictures of PM Modi, cricketer MS Dhoni, and governor Phagu Chauhan. A probe has been ordered by the administration regarding the apparent negligence. The university’s registrar meanwhile called the negligence “anomalies” in his statement.
“A serious note has been taken of the anomalies which have come to light through social media. An inquiry has been ordered and the students concerned have been issued show cause notices. An FIR may also be lodged,” Mushtaq Ahmed, the university’s registrar, was quoted in an NDTV report.
The examinees who received the erred admit cards are from the LNMU (L N Mithila University) and are scheduled to give their BA Part 3 examination scheduled from September 12.
The university vice chancellor meanwhile mentioned that the “mischief” was done by students with involvement of those who want to defame the university. VC Surendra Pratap Singh claimed that such “silly mistakes” can’t be commuted at the university level.
Earlier, in the state-run LNMU, a student got famous for receiving 151 out of 100 in his UG examinations. In 2020, a similar goof-up was reported in Bihar where an admit-card mentioned Sunny Leone and ‘Emran Hasmi’ in columns assigned for mother & father respectively.
The Facts of the Matter
The concerning condition of education in Bihar has remained a part of debates for years. From cheating scams, to shocking goof-ups, Bihar remains one of the few states with abysmal state of education.
In a similar goof up reported from Bihar, students from the state-run LNMU were shocked to see their admit cards have the pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni, and Bihar governor Phagu Chauhan.
FIR Filed Against Students
On Saturday, the LN Mithila University administration filed FIR against 3 students for allegedly pasting the pictures of the aforementioned people on their admit cards. The students allegedly pasted the pictures while filling the examination form.
The students are from colleges based in Madhubani, Samastipur and Begusarai districts, and affiliated to the LMNU. These students were scheduled to give their BA Part 3 examination that is to be held on September 12.
Questions Raised on Bihar’s LMNU
On social media, the admit card of one of the students with picture of Bihar governor Phagu Chauhan had gone viral.

The incident again raised questions on the university’s administration and operations. The incident occurred just months after a student from the same university received 151 out of the total 100 marks.
‘Mischief’ By Students: Vice Chancellor
Meanwhile, the university vice chancellor Surendra Pratap Singh said that the “mischief” was carried by students who conspired with people that have vested interests to defame the university. VC Singh also maintained that such “silly mistakes” can’t be committed at the university level, TOI reported.
Singh claimed that while filling an examination form, students get three options to make correction. The vice-chancellor mentioned that if the students did not notice the mistakes, only they are responsible for the discrepancies.
The ‘Sunny Lenone, Emran Hasmi’ Fiasco
Earlier in December 2020, the administration at the Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University, were bewildered at the screenshot of an admit card where a student’s mother and fathers were mentioned to be Sunny Leone and ‘Emran Hasmi’.
Further, in the permanent address column, ‘Chaturbhuj Sthan’ was mentioned. For the unversed, the Chaturbhuj Sthan is an infamous red-light area in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
