In today’s episode of all things bizarre, a Japanese man has spent a whopping Rs. 12 lakhs on his dream of looking like a dog. The man fulfilled his furry-dream and spent ¥2 million ($15,709), to get himself into an ultra-realistic border collie costume.

The man who fulfilled his dream was identified as Toko who commissioned a company called Zeppet. Zeppet reportedly specializes in creating realistic sculptures and models for movies and commercials. The company is also in the business of producing TV costumes and mascots.

Earlier, Twitter user @toco_eevee shared pictures and videos of himself inside the border collie costume on the microblogging platform. He also took to his own YouTube channel where he can be seen acting like a dog inside his newly acquired expensive costume. The company who worked on the costume did such a wonderful job, that to a layman, it will almost look like a real dog. With scrutiny, one may consider that the visuals on screen are computer generated.

The images and video of Toco inside the border collie costume received some polarizing response. While some netizens were left awestruck with the detain costume, others simply commented with – “enough internet for the day”.

The Facts of the Matter

Every year, San Diego hosts a Comicon where comic books and superhero fans gather to celebrate the genre. Some fans go as far as dressing themselves up in the costume of their favourite character – be it Iron Man, Superman, Wonder Woman, and more. In US, Halloween is also a day which sees kids and youths dress up in different avatars as they go ‘trick or treating’.

Japan Man Crosses Limits of Cosplaying

Recently, a man in Japan crossed all limits of cosplaying as he spent Rs. 12 lakhs to get himself into a costume of a dog. Yes, the man fulfilled his dream of looking like a dog, and spent 2 million yen to acquire a life-like costume from a company in Japan.

Specialist Company Hired to Create Dog Costume

The man in question, Toko, commissioned a Japan-based company called Zeppet who helped him live his dream of looking like a dog. According to reports, Zeppet is a company that specializes in creating lifelike sculptures and models that is commissioned for movies and commercials. It also produces costumes used in TV shows and mascots used for different purposes.

40 Days Spent to Create Dog Costume

It took the company as many as 40 days to create a border collie costume for Toko. A Yahoo News report quoted a Zeppet employee explaining the challenges involved in creating a dog costume.

“The point is that the skeleton of a dog can be reproduced on the skeleton of a human. Since the structure of the skeleton is very different, we spent a lot of time studying how to make it look like a ‘dog,’, the employee said.

“In addition, we collect photographs taken from various angles so that the beautiful coat of the collie can be reproduced and devised so that the coat will flow naturally,” he added.

Toko Goes Viral, Shares Video of him as a Dog

Earlier in April, Toko shared a video of him turning into the border collie on his own YouTube channel. In the video, Toko can be seen gesturing like a dog, waving the “paw” and wiggling like how a dog would.

Toko also spoke to Mynavi where he said that he said, “I made it a collie because it looks real when I put it on. My favorite is quadrupedal animals, especially cute ones. Among them, I thought that a big animal close to me would be good, considering that it would be a realistic model, so I decided to make it a dog. I met such a condition and made collie, my favorite breed of dog.”
