Congress Councilor Adds Fuel

Since then, no public conjectures came to the light regarding the situation. The issue has now been fueled by Tulip Brian Miranda, the Congress Councilor Advocate. Miranda has accused the BMC for taking a lot of time in taking action against the property owned by the mega celebrity Amitabh Bachchan. As per Miranda’s claims, the BMC needs to not issue further appeals after it has served notice for a road-widening project, and yet, no action is taken against Mr. Bachchan.

Prateeksha left untouched by BMC in 2017

It should be noted that back in 2017, when Mr. Bachchan and the owners of other neighbouring properties, were given a notice to give a portion of their plots, most of them accepted the notice. Further, the BMC also destroyed a boundry wall that adjoins Prateeksha, but the bungalow remained untouched.

“BMC delaying acquisition”: Miranda

Congress councilor Tulip Miranda claimed that the BMC is playing a role in delaying the acquisition of Big-B’s property.

“The adjacent properties have been acquired, but only this plot has been left Amitabh Bachchan’s Prateeksha untouched. By sending the issue to the city survey officials, the BMC is only buying time…If the acquisition is not done, we will file a complaint with the Lokayukta.”

Meanwhile, Miranda received a reply from the K-West ward officials saying that BMC will be acquiring the land after the demarcation of Prateeksha’s plot is finalized which is required as a rule. Further, the BMC officials have also claimed that the they had applied for the demarcation back in 2019 and had paid the relevant fees in the matter.

In 2021, the demarcation’s joint measurement was held this year, in February. A TOI report also cited a BMC official citing that the officials of city survey pointed a discrepancy in the maps. The details of the matter were submitted to the BMC office to clarify deviation.
