The death of Indian Army Officer Captain Anshuman Singh has brought great grief and sorrow to the nation. His selfless act of heroism shone through as he risked his life to save the safety of fellow soldiers caught in the line of fire of an ammo dump at the Siachen glacier. Three other soldiers in the vicinity were badly burned, though Captain Anshuman sadly could not be saved. Netizens have shared heartfelt messages to pay tribute to this exemplary hero.

Yogi Adityanath expressed grief upon the passing of Captain (Dr) Anshuman Singh. The CM of UP has declared an aid of Rs 50 lakh for the family of a Deoria district army doctor who passed away, and also that a road in the same district will be named after the late Shaheed Shri Anshuman Singh. Additionally, one family member will be provided with a government job.
Defence spokesperson Lt Col PS Sidhu said. “A fire took place at Siachen Glacier on Wednesday around 0300 hours (3am)… Captain Anshuman Singh, regimental medical officer succumbed to severe burn injuries sustained during the incident. Three other personnel suffered second degree burns and smoke inhalation. They have been safely air-evacuated for further treatment. The condition of the injured personnel is said to be stable,”
RP Singh, the father of Captain Singh, who held the rank of junior commissioned officer in the military, stated “I cannot get back what I have lost… but I am proud that he was not a coward, he sacrificed his life like a hero.”
His remains will be taken to his hometown of Lucknow for funeral rites, with full military honor.
