On Sunday, June 4th, a bridge which was still under construction in Bhagalpur, Bihar, and cost Rs 1,717 crore to build, collapsed when two parts of the bridge fell one after the other, as per video footage. In response to the incident, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has ordered an investigation to determine who is responsible for the collapse, and asked for a report from the ‘Pul Nirman Nigam’. It has been reported that a 3 ft section of the bridge crashed into the river Ganga underneath. Earlier in April, a storm caused damage to the bridge as well. At this time, no casualties have been reported.

BJP Criticized Nitish Kumar
The BJP strongly criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in response to the bridge collapse. Amit Malviya, a BJP leader, questioned whether Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav would step down from their positions as CM and Deputy CM, respectively.
