The ‘Bulli Bai’ mastermind recently helped the police arrest the developer of a similar defaming app called ‘Sulli Deals’ from Indore. The accused has been identified as 26-year-old Aumkareshwar Thakur. A Bachelors in Computer Application Student, Thakur was the one who had primarily developed the ‘Sulli Deals’ app and had shared the same on GitHub. He had further given the access to the app’s code to other members of his group. These members added the pictures of Muslim women on the app. The arrest came a day after four persons involved in the development of Bulli Bai app were arrested by the police.

For the unversed, ‘Sunni Deals’ was an app intended to target Muslim women and defame them by listing them for an ‘auction’. In July 2021, the Delhi Police’s Cyber Crime Unit filed FIR against the unidentified developers of the application intended to troll Muslim women.

The Facts of the Matter

Six months after FIR was registered against the unknown developers of ‘Sulli Deals’, the Delhi Police’s special cell made the first arrest in the case. The accused was arrested thanks to an input given by Niraj Bishnoi, the developer of Bulli Bai app, an app that worked on the similar lines of ‘Sulli Deals’. The accused was nabbed from Indore and was identified as Aumkareshwar Thakur.
