Netflix’s upcoming true crime show is about to shed light on the mysterious deaths of 11 family members. House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths is set to release this Friday, October 8, 2021. The show is created by Leena Yadav with the music created by Academy and Grammy award winner A.R. Rahman. The trailer of the show, a docuseries, dropped earlier this week with much fanfare.
House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths is centered around the ominous and baffling mass suicide of 11 members of the Chundawat family living in New Delhi’s Burari region. The extent of the mystery around the case is such that to this day it hasn’t been discovered as to what led 11 persons kill themselves on the same day, at the same time.

In the pursuit to create a mark in creating a true crime show on a case based in India, Netflix is all set to show the House of Secrets: Burari Deaths this week.

Thanks to the advent of OTT platforms, creators have been enjoying the freedom to dabble with interesting genres. True crime is one such genre which has opened the eyes of viewers on cases that happen near them. The true crime shows offer a bird’s eye view of such cases. It has perspectives of people involved in some strange crimes, from the victims, to those around them, to the authorities.
One such true crime docuseries is all set to rock Netflix. The series called House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths deals with the infamous and mysterious murder/suicide of 11 persons of a family that resided in Burari.

What is The Burari Deaths case?
On July 1, 2018, 11 members of the e Chundawat family were found hanging in their Burari residence. The 11 family members involved persons that had a varied age group of victims aged 77 to 15. The 11 family members included 7 women and 4 men.
Off the 11 persons that were found dead, 10 were found hanging with a cloth covering their eyes. These 10 persons also had their mouths taped. Only the eldest member of family, a 77-year-old woman, was found lying on the floor in a different room.

What Makes the Burari Deaths so Mysterious and Unsettling?
Initially, the cops had indicated that the case was that of a mass suicide. However, during the investigation, 11 notebooks were found in the house. In the notebooks there were minute details on how one can end their life and get moksha (salvation).
The police claimed that the book contained step-by-step method of how one can surrender their body which is a temporary vessel. It also had account on how to deal with pain when one would act in a way that would take their life.
The last entry made in the notebook was an account on how every family member must jump off their stools at the same time.
The Significance of Number 11 in Burari Deaths
What made the case even more baffling was the unfounded significance of the number 11. Reportedly 11 persons took their lives in the case. On investigation, 11 pipes were found in the house. The pipes were laid down by the laborers on one of the family member’s ideas. Further, the main iron gate in the house too had 11 rods.
