The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has accused a Byju’s  and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan of fraudulent behavior and unfair trade practices. The allegations were made by a woman who had enrolled in coaching to become an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. The commission issued an order against them based on her complaint.

According to reports, Priyanka Dixit filed the case against Byju’s and Shahrukh Khan. She enrolled for IAS coaching with Byju’s, paying a fee of Rs 1.8 lakh after seeing the company’s advertisement featuring Shahrukh Khan. However, she was dissatisfied with the quality of teaching provided by the faculty and requested a refund. Although Byju’s cancelled her admission, but they failed to refund the fee as promised.

The commission passed an order directing Byju’s and Shahrukh Khan to return Rs 1.08 lakh in fees along with 12 percent annual interest, which was deposited by Priyanka Dixit at the time of her admission in 2021. Additionally, they were asked to pay Rs 5,000 as litigation cost and Rs 50,000 as compensation to Dixit for the financial and mental distress caused to her.
