The absolute horrifying side of humanity was caught on cam where 2 Patiala women tied a dog to their scooty and inhumanely dragged it on the road. In the CCTV footage, 2 women could be seen, driving a two-wheeler with a helpless dog tied to it. The incident happened in Patiala at the New Century enclave region.

While humans are known to form communities and grow together by helping each and one another, there is another side to some humans who unleash havoc on silent and mute animals. Animal cruelty is rampant in the country with cases of assaults and abuse on animals is reported. One such incident came straight from Punjab’s Patiala where 2 women crossed all limits of humanity and abused their own pet.

Through the CCTV footage at the New Century enclave, two women can be seen dragging their helpless pet dog. The dog in the process got heavily injured and as per reports, died during the treatment. According to the police, a few children present in the region tried to stop the women and that’s when the accused left the dog and fled away.

After the atrocity, Station House Officer Gurmeet Singh claimed that a case was registered under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act against the two women and a city-wide search was initiated.
Meanwhile, the images and the videos made rounds on social media with netizens condemning the act.

Accused Identified & Arrested by the Police
After the videos made rounds on the internet, the two accused women were arrested by the Patiala police. The accused women were identified as Chanchal and Sonia, both residents in Patiala’s Ablowal village’s Adarsh Nagar area.

“Dog turned violent, had attacked a kid”: SHO Bhinder
Station House Officer Gurpreet Bhinder claimed that the police has already impounded the two-wheeler that were used by the accused. The SHO was also quoted saying-
“The two women, who are known to each other, revealed that the dog had turned violent. They claimed that it had attacked a kid at their house.”
Bhinder also claimed that the two women were taking the dog to the Bhakhara canal when they were intervened by an animal activist. It was during the questioning that the women revealed that the dog was their pet and they were taking it near the Bhakra canal to unleash the dog there.

NGO Claims Pursuing Stringent Punishment, Accused Released on Bail
Despite the atrocity these two women pulled on their own pet, they were released right after their arrest on bail. However, Chopaya Jeev Rakha Foundation’s founder Sushma Singh Rathore claimed that the volunteers of the organization found the accused and alerted the police.
“We will ensure that the suspects get stringent punishment,”
claimed the animal safety NGO’s founder. It should be noted that the NGO was extended free legal support by advocate Rishabh Sharma. By Sharma’s aid, the suspects were booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Meanwhile, the police were also asked by the newspersons where the accused changed the colour of their two-wheeler to evade being identified. To this, the SHO claimed-
“We have impounded the vehicle. I don’t see any change in the scooter. However, we will again verify.”
