In a horrific incident caught on cam, an Agra police constable was crushed to death by a goods train after falling on the railway tracks. The incident was reported from Raja Ki Mandi railway station and took place earlier last week on Saturday.

The constable that lost his life in the tragic incident was identified as 34-year-old Ringel Singh a Government Railway Police constable. According to reports, the 34-year-old victim fell on the tracks after felling dizzy and disoriented. Distressing visuals of the entire incident was caught on a CCTV camera that was set up at the station.

After the incident’s video went viral on Twitter, netizens mourned for the deceased constable and took a moment to accept how things can change for worse in the matter of seconds in life while we continue to live for future. The deceased constable was a resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife and a one-month-daughter.

Background

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), as many as 13,000 train accidents were the reason of the deaths of close to 12,000 persons in 2020. The staggering data when put under the lens of perspective indicates that as many as 32 persons died due to railway related accidents in 2020 every day.

Further, the NCRB report also stated that 70% of these accidents occurred when people fell off the train or were on their way to cross the railway tracks. The data is all the more harrowing when context shows that almost 45% of the country’s passenger trains were not operating due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown that followed.

A silver lining amid the concerning data set comes with the fact that the railway accidents reduced in 2020 against the number of accidents that were reported in 2019. According to the NCRB report, in 2019, as many as 27,987 train accidents were reported in 2019 which fell down to 13,018 accidents.

In a gut-wrenching incident, a 34-year-old constable in Agra came under a goods train after falling on the railway tracks. The incident happened earlier on Saturday and occurred sometime around 9.25AM. the deceased was identified as Ringel Singh who worked as a constable with the Government Railway Police. The entire tragedy was recorded on CCTV camera, distressing visuals of which are currently making rounds of social media.

The victim somehow moves in circles and ends up falling on the railway tracks right at the time a goods train was also moving on the tracks. A man who witnessed the terrible mishap from a distance tried to rush and create alarm to somehow rescue the victim. Meanwhile, another passenger who was sitting idly barely a few feet away from the victim sat helplessly witnessing the commotion.

Victim Survived by Wife, 1-month-old Daughter

After the incident, the deceased man’s body was sent to postmortem by the police. Reportedly, the police constable on duty felt dizzy and disoriented before falling on the railway tracks. A resident of Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, he is survived by his wife and a one-month daughter.
