In a distressing development caught on cam, a Delhi woman was brutally thrashed by unknown assailants at Shalimar Bagh locality. In the video, a group of goons can be seen surrounding the woman and brutally thrashing her with punches and with sticks.

While it’s still not uncovered as to who the assailants were, a complaint has already been registered against them. The video also shows another woman who was accompanying the victim, trying to intervene. But the assailants overpowered her and start hitting her with sticks. According to news agency ANI, the incident happened earlier on November 19 at around 10:15 PM. So far, no arrests have been made.

It should be noted that this was not an isolated incident in Delhi where a woman was thrashed. Back in July 2021, a 28-year-old woman was thrashed outside her own home by an older woman.

If India is hell for a lot of women, Delhi-NCR region is the deepest level of that hell. Often known as the ‘rape capital of India’, Delhi is infamous for its high rate of crimes against women. Among all the metropolitan cities in India, the national capital reported the greatest number of violent crimes against women in 2020. Taking into consideration that 2020 witnessed a massive nationwide lockdown due to the pandemic, its still staggering that the crimes against women persisted.

In 2020, as many as 2.4 lakh cases were registered by the Delhi police under various sections of the IPC. Further, 10,093 cases of crimes against women were registered the same year. This is more than double the cases in Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and several other cities.

A new crime was reported on Tuesday in Delhi where a woman was brutally thrashed by unknown men.

The Facts of the Matter

In an incident that shows the diminishing humanity amongst people, a woman was brutally physically assaulted by a bunch of unknown men. The incident which was captured on CCTV camera, shows the woman being pounced by multiple men and being hit by punches and sticks. The incident reportedly happened back on November 19. ANI reported that the woman was attacked at around 10:35 PM.

After the incident, the Delhi Police filed a complaint against the unknown men and the investigation to nab them is still on. So far, neither arrests have been made, nor the identities of the accused have been deduced.

Reportedly the woman in her complaint has alleged that the attackers were sent by an Aam Aadmi Party MLA.

What the Video Shows

The CCTV footage shows a hatchback being parked in a busy locality. Later two women make their way out of the car. The woman are soon surrounded by two men who attacked them with slaps. Meanwhile, a third woman gets out of the car to intervene. However, she was overpowered by another man who started attacking her with sticks. Soon, the man who initially started the ruckus also joins in and starts punching the woman. Meanwhile, 2 more persons with sticks repeatedly keep hitting the woman till she looks appears broken down.

The 4 unknown assailants then flee the scene while the woman can be seen sitting on the road beside the car, in obvious pain and agony.

Netizens React to Delhi Woman Being Thrashed

After the video was released by several news agencies including ANI, the netizens expressed their anger and shock on Twitter. While some claim that the national capital is unsafe for women, others were trying to ascertain as to who the unknown assailants were and why they attacked the woman.
