In a distressing incident caught on cam, a Jalandhar cop’s SUV mowed over 2 girls where 1 girl was flung over and crushed to death due to the impact. The other girl who was injured was rushed to the local hospital for treatment. The terrible mishap occurred on Monday, October 18 on Punjab’s Jalandhar-Phagwara highway. The victim who passed away in the accident has been identified as Navjot Kaur, an employee at the Hyundai car showroom. Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh, the inspector behind the wheel was held by the Punjab police.
Background
An eye-opening revelation emerged from the last Road Safety and Socio-Economic Assessment of National Highway in Punjab conference in August this year. According to the data, Punjab accounted to about 3.3-3.5% deaths due to road accidents in India between 2016-2019. Further, the monetary loss that was registered due to these accidents accounted to about Rs. 15,000 crores – 3% of Punjab’s GDP.
Another staggering figure states that during 2020 Punjab reported 42 road accident deaths during a 26-day complete lockdown where only emergency vehicles were permitted to travel. This puts the number to 1.6 average death per day.
Recently, the state was sent in the state of a shellshock where two girls were runover an SUV driven by a cop.

What Does the CCTV Footage Show?
Although the CCTV footage is just 8-second short, it is enough for a viewer to have a chill down their spine. The visuals show two girls standing near a highway railing, waiting to cross the road. As they try to pass the road, they are forced to take a step back.
In just a second we understand as to why they took a step back. Out of nowhere, a white-colored mid-sized SUV comes in the frame. Although the two girls were right on the divider railing, it didn’t stop them from their eventual accident.
The speeding and out-of-control white SUV rams the two girls. Due to the high speed and the intense impact, both the girls are flung in the air. One girl takes the hit for the worst as she is thrown off for a few feet and is crushed to death.
Meanwhile the car SUV be seen leaving the frame with the same speed, and behind the car is the carnage of the destruction it caused

Very bad driving blindly

Looks Absolutely Deliberate case but further and proper investigation will reveal the motive behind such deadly deed and the culprit should be given exemplary punishment.

Well you would find my comment odd, but clearly this highway is not for pedestrian crossing, see the big divider between the highway!
— Wakefull (@Wak3ful) October 18, 2021
Why the people have to cross the highway in between. They are ment for vehicles not pedestrian.

Jay walking is a problem. No doubt. That doesn't call for deliberate killing. This is a case where the driver deliberately drove into them. He had metres of road space but he chose to drive practically on the divider. Watch the wheels.
