In a shocking incident caught on cam, a Kerala-based toll plaza employee was seen on CCTV being dragged by a moving car for asking a car driver to pay the toll fee. The incident was reported from Kerala’s Kollam Bypass Road.
The victim in the matter sustained injuries as the car driver first dragged him with the car and then pushed him from the same to get away from paying the toll fee. The victim in the matter, identified as 23-year-old Kureeppuzha Plavarakkavu Theril Thekkethil Arun, was admitted to a private hospital following the unwarranted brash act by the car driver.
The video of the incident shows the victim standing near the driver’s-side window, seemingly to collect the toll fee. An altercation soon ensues as the car driver can be seen grabbing the victim by his short and shaking him violently. A woman soon rushes and tries to intervene.
However, matters soon escalate when the driver of the car puts the foot on accelerator and drags the victim for a lengthy stretch of the road.
According to an Onmanorma report, there were two youths in the car. As per preliminary investigation, the person who was driving the car was identified as Lanjith, a Varkala native. His friend, a lawyer, was taken into custody.
The Facts of the Matter
Defying all civic sense and road safety rules, a car driver dragged a toll plaza employee for a good stretch of road on being asked for toll plaza fee. The entire ordeal was caught on CCTV camera. The incident was reported from Kerala’s Kollam Bypass Road.
According to reports, the victim in the matter was identified as 23-year-old Kureeppuzha Plavarakkavu Theril Thekkethil Arun. Arun is a contract-based employee at the Kureeppuzha toll plaza. The shocking incident occurred earlier on Thursday, sometime around 2.40 pm.
What Does the Video Show?
The incident shows Arun standing beside the passenger’s side door of a white coloured Swift Dzire. Seemingly wanting to collect the toll fee, Arun can be seen standing beside the car for a prolonged period.
However, things escalate when the driver of the car starts having a heated argument with Arun. Arun can be seen defending himself from attempts of assault by the car driver. Soon, a woman rushes towards the car, to intervene.
This is when the driver of the car garbs Arun by his shirt and puts the foot on the pedal. For the next thirty-fourty meters, he drags Arun, who’s hanging by the car.

2 Youths Driving Car, Lawyer of Car Driver in Custody
According to an Onmanorma report, there were two youths in the car. When Arun asked the driver of the car to pay the toll fee, they started assaulting him. As per the preliminary investigation, the car is registered in the name of a woman in Parippally. The car was being driven by a Varkala native Lanjith. While the police are yet to nab Lanjith, they have taken his lawyer into custody.
Similar Incidents Have Occurred in past
Earlier in 2019, a similar incident was reported from Gurugram where a toll-plaza employee was brutally assaulted by two men. The toll booth employee had asked the accused for ID, when they stormed into the toll booth and launched a relentless attack on the victim.

The same year, in Gurugram, a toll plaza employee got dragged by a car for about 5-6 km. The victim of the incident told ANI that the car driver drove the vehicle at a speed of 100 km/h and further allegedly said, “You’ll stop my car? Even police doesn’t stop my car”.
