In a shocking incident caught on cam, cattle smugglers reportedly threw cows out of a truck amid a high-speed police chase in Gurugram, Haryana. The accused, the police, and vigilantes in SUV were involved in a 22 km high-speed chase of cat and mouse.

The police were able to arrest 5 persons accused of smuggling the cattle and shooting at ‘gaurakshaks’. The accused were identified as Yahya, Ballu, Tasleem, Sahid, and Khalid. In the intense police chase, the smugglers, sitting in the trolly of a truck fired at the vigilante gau-rakshaks who were giving them a chase in SUVs. Reportedly, the accused were smuggling seven cows to Mewat for slaughtering.

During the chase, the accused also threw the cows off the speeding truck to throw off the SUVs chasing them. His led to two of the seven cows getting injured. Later the accused were booked under multiple sections of the IPC, the Arms Act, and the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015.

The Facts of the Matter

On wee hours of Saturday morning, the Gurugram police arrested five men for smuggling cows. The arrests were made after a high-octane 22km chase had ensued which involved the accused smugglers throwing the cows out of the truck which was being driven on deflated tires. The smugglers also fired at SUVs being driven by gau-rakshaks involved in the pursuit. The entire incident was caught on video, visuals of which are making rounds of internet.

Gau-Rakshaks Spot Smugglers Taking Away Cattle

According to reports, the gau-rakshaks saw the smugglers carrying cows in a minitruck near the Ambience Mall. Soon a chase began with the vigilantes chasing the truck carrying the cattle’ in their Bolero SUV. The truck driver moved towards Sector 55-56 and crossed the Signature Towers with the vigilantes not giving up the chase.

Smugglers Throw Cow Out of the Truck

At one point, the truck hit a stone on the road and due to the high speed and the intense friction the truck tyre ended up getting deflated. However, the smugglers continued driving on the road with the SUVs behind them. To throw off the vigilantes behind them, the smugglers reportedly threw the cows out of the moving truck.

Accused Smuggler Opened Fire, Tried to Jump Out of Truck

Soon, the SUV came close to catching up to the smuggler’s truck and this was when one of the accused also opened fire at the gau-rakshaks. Seeing no way out, one of the accused tried to jump out of the truck and flee. However, a car on the road ended up hitting one of the accused and soon, the gau-rakshaks caught up with the smugglers.

Police Recovered Guns, Bullets

Reportedly, the gau-rakshaks had also called the police control room and the high-speed chase also involved police vehicles along with the vigilantes. In the aftermath of the shocking incident, the police revealed that two of the seven cows being smuggled were injured after the accused threw them off the truck. The police also recovered country-made guns and bullets from the smugglers.

Accused Booked Under Multiple Acts

The accused, identified by their first name, were reported to be Yahya, Ballu, Tasleem, Sahid, and Khalid. The police booked them under Section 307 (punishment for attempt to murder) of the IPC, sections of the Arms Act, and under Section 13 (2) of The Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015.
