In a horrific incident caught on cam, several stray dogs bit, mauled and ended up injuring a 4-year-old girl who as later hospitalized. The incident was reported from Bag Sewaniya, a neighborhood in Bhopal. The entire incident was caught on a CCTV which showed the young girl getting surrounded by a pack of street dogs who later start biting and dragging her. Thankfully, a passerby intervened and the dogs left the girl before things could take a turn from bad to worse. Mayhem of aggressive street dogs have become a nuisance in several corners of the country in the past few years.
The Facts of the Matter
In another incident that shows the rising nuisance of street dogs, a 4-year-old girl was mauled by a pack of street dogs in Bhopal. The incident occurred earlier on Saturday, December 31, 2021. The girl is reported to be the daughter of a laborer who was working at a site that’s under construction. Thanks to the intervention of a passerby, the dogs left the girl before things could’ve gotten even worse. After being brutally bitten and dragged by the dogs, the girl was rushed to a hospital with severe injuries.
What Does the Video Show?
The barely 33-second video showed the little girl being chased by 5 dogs. At one point, the dogs are able to completely surround the girl who falls on the ground. The dogs bite her head, legs and her belly while she tries to fight them off.
An aggressive dog goes on to drag the girl from her legs for a few feet as others continue barking and attacking the girl. A passerby is seen intervening by the end of the video and the dogs scramble away. The girl then takes to her feet and wobbles on the street with abject fear.

MP Human Rights Commission Takes Cognizance
After the incident was reported, the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission took cognizance of the case. The commission has sought reports from Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Bhopal Commissioner and Health Department of Bhopal within the next 7 days.
The Human Rights Commission has asked the parties above mentioned details on things such as action taken under the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules 2001, the number of stray dogs that were sterilized in 2021, number of rabid dogs driven off the city streets, details of incidents of stray dog attacks and action taken on each of them, etc.
Bhopal’s Gruesome History of Dog Attacks
The commission has also sought report as to the compensation amount allocated to the father of the 4-year-old girl, the medical examination report and the girl’s treatment after attack, and a copy of the monthly meetings of the Monitoring Committee under the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules.
Similarly in 2019, a 6-year-old boy became the victim of a gruesome stray dog attack. The incident was reported from Awadhpuri locality in Bhopal and occurred in May. The boy was mauled by a pack of blood-thirsty dogs and received severe injuries on his face. Despite being rushed to the treatment, the boy succumbed to his injuries.
