In Chandigarh, a 25-year-old woman was caught on CCTV being run over by a speeding car while trying to feed a stray dog. The incident was reported from Chandigarh’s furniture market and took place earlier on Saturday last week. The victim in the matter, 25-year-old Tejaswita was rushed to a hospital in Sector 61 where she is currently receiving treatment.
In the hair-raising CCTV footage of the incident, the victim can be seen feeding a stray dog on the side of the road. Both roads captured in the CCTV appear to be completely empty without any cars or pedestrians. Out of nowhere, a Mahindra SUV appears and makes a rash U-turn. The car continues speeding and before the victim could move aside, it runs her over, leaving her behind squirming in pain and agony.
According to reports, the victim, who is an architecture undergraduate, is a civil services aspirant and is preparing for the same. She often went to the same spot with her mother to feed the stray dogs.
A complaint has been registered in the matter and investigation has been launched.
Meanwhile, earlier the Bombay High Court squashed an FIR against the man who reportedly ran over a dog, killing it in process. ‘Dogs are not humans’, the court observed, and directed the state government to pay the man who ran over the dog.
The Facts of the Matter
Lately, incidents of deaths and injuries involving dogs are on the rise. While some of these incidents are about stray dog bites, there are some incidents where dogs are simply an indirect cause of a brutal tragedy.
In one such incident, a woman was run over by a speeding car while she was feeding a stray dog. The incident took place earlier on Saturday near furniture market and was caught on CCTV. The victim in the matter was identified as 25-year-old Tejaswita.

What Does the Video Show
The hair-raising video of the incident shows Tejaswita bending down and feeding a stray dog who’s seen standing by her side. The road ahead of her and the one parallel to it appear to be completely empty without a sign of a pedestrian or vehicle. Out of nowhere, an SUV appears in the frame and can be seen taking a rash U-turn from the parallel road. Before Tejaswita could move away or back off, the SUV runs her over, leaving her agonizing in pain.

Victim Receives Stitches, is a UPSC Aspirant
According to reports, the woman is critically injured and was found in the pool of her blood by her mother. She was rushed to GMSH hospital in sector 61 where she is undergoing the treatment. She has received stitches on both sides of her head, and is fortunately able to speak.
According to Tejaswita’s father Ojaswi Kaushal, his daughter is an architecture graduate, and is currently preparing for civil services exam. She and her mother went to the market daily to feed the stray dogs.
