Prominent chef Ranveer Brar has begun a petition to make coriander recognized as “India’s national herb,” taking his love for dhania to greater levels. Chef Ranveer Brar recently posted on Instagram about how he has started a petition on Change.org to proclaim dhaniya India’s national herb.
‘Give India’s Most Loved Herb “Dhaniya” the Glory It Deserves!’ is the title of his petition. “If you’ve cooked anything today, chances are you’ve reached for this, chopped and tossed it into your dish, or used its brilliant green leaves as a garnish,” it adds.
Ranveer Brar’s Attempts to Make Coriander ‘National Herb’
Coriander, or dhania, kothamali, cilantro, as it is affectionately known in India, is the star of your kitchen. This plant has a lot of flavours. It can be used to add flavour to any cuisine. Coriander is used in practically all Indian recipes, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

Some easily agreed to join the petition and inquired, “Where should we sign?” as seen in the image. The post has already received over 19K likes and countless supportive comments.

Many Indian households have made coriander the star of every dish by integrating its minty taste into the food or by garnishing it with the brilliant green herb.

“Please sign my petition to make coriander a national herb! The herb that imparts flavour to all delicacies and brings joy to our hearts must be given its due. Alternatively, it will seek out the title somewhere… “Aap kahenge Ranveer aapne bataya nahi!”, Brar said.
More than 11,500 individuals have signed the petition so far, and the number appears to be growing.
