Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann has become ‘Family Mann’. The newly appointed AAP CM has tied knot with Dr. Gurpreet Kaur on Thursday, July 7 in Punjab capital. CM Bhagwat Mann got married for the second time, with his first marriage ending in a separation back in 2015.

While the wedding was reported to be low-key prominent political leaders, including Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, attended the ceremony in Chandigarh. Haryana CM M.L. Khattar, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit, and other leaders were also in the wedding guest list.

According to reports, the news of Mann’s wedding was not only surprising to Punjab citizens, but to the villagers in Pehowa, where the bride belongs from. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur is lovingly called “Gopi” among the villagers in Pehowa. Her neighbours told media that they had no inkling about the development. They added that it was a proud moment for them, knowing the Punjab state is going to become their son-in-law.

Mann was married to Inderpreet Kaur till 2015. They had two kids, both of whom reside in US along with their mother. Earlier, Mann’s children, daughter Seerat, and son Dilshan, had flown from US to attend their father’s swearing-in-ceremony.

2022 is turning out to be quite an eventful year for comedian turned politician Bhagwat Mann. Earlier in January, the 48-year-old was announced as the candidate for Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab. Mann’s next few months were spent in campaigning, and in March, he became the state’s Chief minister.

His next few months were spent in spearheading AAP’s anti-corruption agenda, a move that was polarizing. Come July, the newly appointed CM was announced to be tying the knot for the second time.

On July 7, Bhagwat Mann married Gurpreet Kaur, a resident of a village in Pehowa and a doctor by profession. The two tied the knot at a Gurudwara in Chandigarh.

Who is Gurpreet Kaur?

32-year-old Gurpreet Kaur is a doctor by profession, hailing from a village Pehowa in Haryana’s Kurukshetra. Her father, Inderjit Singh Natt, is a farmer and her mother is a homemaker. Fondly known as ‘Gopi’ among locals, she did her MBBS from the Maharishi Markandeshwar Univesrity (MMU).

According to her neighbours, she enrolled in the course back in 2013 and completed in 2018. Locals have so far revealed Gurpreet Kaur to be an intelligent and caring woman. Locals have been joyous over the fact that their own ‘Gopi’ got married to the Punjab Chief Minister.

All About Bhagwat Mann’s First Marriage

As noted earlier, this is Bhagwat Mann’s second marriage. Back in 2015, he separated from his first wife Inderpreet Kaur. The couple’s two children are currently staying in US, with their mother. Earlier during Mann’s swearing-in-ceremony in March, his children, 17-year-old Dilshan and 21-year-old Seerat, had come all the way from US to Punjab for the ceremony.

At around 12.30, wedding rituals of CM Mann and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur were reported to be underway.

In another update, Delhi CM and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, along with AAP MP Raghav Chadha and others were captured enjoying the wedding festivities.
