On Wednesday, evergreen Singer Daler Mehndi turns 54. He has revealed the reason why he doesn’t perform and sing as many Bollywood songs as per his fans demand. He revealed that he charges around Rs 6 lakh plus GST from a producer for a fair deal per song. He also revealed that many producers are not comfortable with the amount he charges per deal so he doesn’t work as much as the young generation’s singers does.
Daler Mehndi’s Per Song Charges Including GST
Daler in a conversation explained that he charges Rs 6 Lakh per track deal plus additional GST. He further moved on to explain the process of making a song with new gen artists.
- A dummy singer first records it in Mumbai.
- Then it is recorded with several struggling or new singers, and then whichever voice they want, they retain the song in that singer’s voice.
In his case he explained, once he gets paid he records the song and the deal gets sealed. He also said that they aren’t able to remove his song from the film because they know it is them who approached Daler.
He explained why he doesn’t perform songs in bulk because he is too costly to afford, secondly he is very choosy about the songs and third, he doesn’t want to do dirty and explicit work in market.

Daler Mehndi Believes in Organic Followers
When questioned about his views on followers, likes and views on the social media platform, he said that he does not believe in buying fake million views or followers. He said he believes in organic and original followers and views which he gets to earn while his constant efforts.
He said that he does not have many followers on the photo-sharing site, Instagram but he “feels proud to say that they are all genuine.”
BTS Member Sings Daler’s Songs!
Comparing his fandom to that of other Bollywood stars, he said that they have a whole team working on promotions and helping the stars rise in the fanbase. Daler Mehndi confessed of not having a big team yet reaching on the worldwide scale.
The singer also spoke about a BTS member sharing singing his songs as they grew up. The joyful singer stated that he feels very happy and he is very proud when he reads about it. He added that he would love to collaborate with the global sensation K-pop bandsome day.
Daler’s Take On Reality Shows
Talking about reality shows Daler shared his opinion. He said that, “I tell them I won’t do it for free. Reality shows have a budget of crores. When they are making money, even I should get it. And I will do honest judging, and say honest things. But, I want my fees.”

Daler’s Hit Songs and Future Plans
Daler has delivered some evergreen hits such as Bolo Ta Ra Ra, TunakTunakTun, DardiRabRab, Ho JayegiBalleBalle and Na NaNaNaNa Re in his long career. He has also sung for Bollywood movies such as Rang De Basanti and Dangal.
Taking a toll on his future plans, he said that, “I had always thought that I’d explore new areas after establishing myself in the industry, and that’s what I’m doing. I also plan to recreate some ghazals from my compositions which I used to sing in the 1980s.”
