Malan ran between the wickets, gave away dots and never could open his arms for maximums and boundaries. Pretty soon his end came in the 13th over when he tried to sweep Axar Patel but found himself being bowled out. In the next over, Hooda and Agarwal were in a pickle as due to a mix-up both the batsmen ran towards the same end. In the end, third umpire called that it was Hooda who was run out.

Capitalizing on his near miss, Agarwal pushed the ante up. He went after Lalit Yadav to hit him for a maximum and a boundry. In the next over he hit back-to-back boundaries against Axar Patel. With all the hard hitting, Agarwal brought himself closer to the century and brought his team close to a respectable total.

However, on the other end, the dominoes kept falling with Chris Jordan and Shahrukh Khan were sent back for 4 and 2 respectively. Mayank Agarwal held the fort like a champion on the other end. Shaw and Dhawan gives DC another blazing start
History repeated itself as Dhawan and Shaw gave DC the start it needed. Both the players gave a contrasting performance to Punjab Kings’ batsmen. Before the powerplay the duo added 63 runs in just 38 balls. The highlight of their partnership came in the first over itself as the duo hit Shami all over the ground to add 15 runs off it.
Brar scalps Shaw, Smith and Dhawan continue on momentum
Some respite came Punjab’s way as Brar also repeated his last game’s performance and took the wicket of Shaw who was looking strong at 39 off 22. But Smith coming at third place showed no sign of discomfort and continued with the momentum. The duo of Smith and Dhawan rotated strikes and hit a couple of boundaries in each over.
Smith although hit only 1 boundry played a mature inning and ran between the wickets to make up for the lack of boundry. In the 12th over, he tried to clear the fence off Meredith but in a hit that had more height than distance, he holed it out to Dawid Malan.

Dhawan though never pressed the panic button and ensured the team did not endure a collapse. Soon he brought his 50 in style by hitting Bishnoi for a 6. Like the last outing, Pant tried to finish off things quickly and gave his wicket away to Jordan.
