In a shocking incident, two Delhi-based cops have been accused of kidnapping a tax agent, and threatening to file a false case against the man if he doesn’t cough up Rs. 1.5 lakhs. The incident came to the fore after the victim finally took to the GTB Enclave police station to file a complaint. A case of abduction and extortion has been filed against the cops and two constables were arrested earlier on Saturday evening.
The accused cops in question have been identified as Sandeep and Robin. Meanwhile, another man identified as Wahid has been found to be a co-accused in the case. Further, a constable identified as Amit and a small-time goon, Anna, are absconding.
The victim of the horrific crime committed by the cops told the officials that he was returning to his home earlier on October 11 when a car overtook him. Three people came out from the car and thrashed him. They forced him to get in their car, and a cop took out Rs.35,000 from his pocket.
Further, the cops demanded Rs 5 lakhs to release him, and told him that he would be locked up if he didn’t cough up the money.
Threatened, the victim took the accused to his house, and paid Rs 50,000 in cash, and transferred Rs 70,000 that he borrowed.
The Facts of the Matter
While cops are employed to rescue and help citizens when they are targeted by criminals, there are times when the protectors become the attackers themselves. In one such situation, at least two cops in Delhi have been accused of kidnapping a tax agent, and threatening to file a case against him. Only after the accused cops extorted Rs 1.5 lakhs from the victim, the latter was released, and later took to police.
Based on the victim’s complaint, the GTB Enclave police station filed a case against the said cops. Earlier on Saturday, two cops posted at Seemapuri police station, identified as Sandeep and Robin, were arrested. Meanwhile, a third cop, Amit, and a small-time goon, Anna, who are also involved in the case, are on the run.
Tax Agent Ambushed, Assaulted and Abducted
The victim, a tax-agent, was returning to his home in his car earlier on October 11 when a car overtook him. Three men came out from a white-coloured car and started thrashing him. They told the victim that they belong from the crime branch and snatched Rs 35,000 from him.
The accused continued to threaten the victim and said that if they are not paid Rs 5 lakhs, they would file a false case against him, and would lock him up. The accused also took the victim to the office of Delhi police Special Staff.

False Pretext of Getting Medical Done
After talking to another officer in the office of special staff, the accused took the victim back in the car and told him that the office they spoke to asked them to lock him. The accused told the victim that his medical would be done, and took him to GTB hospital.

Extorting Rs 1.5 Lakhs
They continued to assault and threaten the victim, and took him to his house where the victim paid the cops Rs 50,000 more. Further, the victim also borrowed Rs 70,000 from a friend and transferred it to the account of a goon’s wife.
After the accused cops extorted Rs 1.5 lakhs from the victim, they released him. Investigation in the matter revealed that the plan was put together by constable Amit. The cops used a man identified as Wahid’s car, and another constable identified as Gaurav joined the plan.
