Delhi government has allocated a budget specifically to be used for COVID-19 vaccine and all the Delhiites will be provided a free vaccine in Delhi.
In a recent statement by Manish Sisodia, he said that the Delhi government has allocated a sum of Rs 50 crore for vaccination. Pretty soon the vaccinations will increase from 45,000 to 60,000 per day. COVID-19 vaccines will be available to all free of cost at government facilities in Delhi.
On Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia made this announcement while presenting the Delhi Budget 2021. In his announcement he shared that a sum of Rs 50 crore would be allocated for the vaccination campaign in Delhi.
Manish Sisodia, while presenting the budget in the assembly, told the dignitaries that the government of Delhi has allocated a budget amounting to Rs 50 crore for covid vaccination. Soon, vaccination will be increased to 60,000 per day.”
Currently the people are given a coronavirus vaccine in 192 hospitals in Delhi. Of which 56 of them are run by the Delhi government. The Coronavirus vaccine is presently in its phase two where people who are over 60 years of age and people who are between the age of 45–59 years with comorbidity are eligible to get vaccinated and also are getting vaccinated.
This announcement which is made of distributing the coronavirus vaccine for free to all the people in Delhi is in line with the indication of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, wherein he said about giving the COVID-19 vaccine free to all Delhiites.
In the budget, other than free vaccines, the government also announced an outlay of Rs 9,934 crore for the health sector. This takes upto 14% of the total budget outlay of Rs 69,000 crore.
The Deputy CM also announced that soon in the first phase, 100 Mohalla clinics dedicated to women will be opened in Delhi. He further added that this number would eventually increase to include at least one mohalla clinic in each of the 272 municipal wards.
Sisodia also made another important announcement that can bring about a change, is a cloud-based health information management system (HIMS) and a digital health card.
All over India, a national campaign was launched on 16 January, in which the frontliners, the health workers were first vaccinated. Vaccination of border workers also began from 2 February. In the latest phase, which commenced from 1 March, people who are 60 years or + of age and between 45–59 years of age with Comorbidities are being vaccinated.
