In a spine-chilling development, a Delhi man has been accused of killing his live-in partner, and chopping her bodies into 35 pieces, and then dumping them all around the national capital. The hair-raising news comes just days after another similar incident had surfaced from Kerala where two women were chopped into pieces as a “sacrifice” for financial prosperity.
The accused in the matter has been identified as Aftab Ameen Poonawalla, while the deceased victim has been identified as Shraddha. The couple were staying in a rented apartment in South Delhi’s Mehrauli area. The live-in couple used to indulge in frequent fights as the deceased victim had been pressurizing Aftab to get married with her.
Earlier on May 18, the couple had another fight, which escalated to a point of no return. In a fit of rage, the accused Aftab strangled Shraddha, and then chopped her body into 35 pieces with a saw. He also purchased a large fridge to keep the chopped off pieces.
Over the course of the next 18 days, he used to regularly leave his home at wee hours, and discard the pieces across the national capital. The couple had eloped after their family were against the relationship, and had been living in Mehrauli.
The Facts of the Matter
In another grisly incident reported from National Capital, a man reportedly killed his live-in partner, chopped her body into several pieces and then dumped them all over Delhi. While the incident occurred earlier in May, it is only Monday when it was reported that the accused was arrested based on a tip-off.
Couple had Eloped Due to Family Disagreeing to Relationship
The accused in the matter has been identified as Aftab Ameen Poonawalla and the deceased victim has been identified as Shraddha. Reportedly, Shraddha used to work at a call centre while the accused worked as a chef. As their families were against their relationship, they had eloped, and had been living in a rented apartment in Delhi’s Mehrauli.
The matter came to the fore for police after the deceased’s family filed a complaint regarding the matter. Family of the victim had been concerned about her whereabouts as she had not been receiving their calls.

Accused Got Into Fight With Victim
As per reports, the couple used to get into fights quite frequently as the victim had been insisting the accused to marry her. Earlier on May 18, the accused got into another fight where in a fit of rage, he strangled Shraddha to death.
He then used a saw and chopped it into as many as 35 pieces. The accused also bought a refrigerator large enough to store the pieces for the weeks that were ahead of him. Over the course of the next fortnight, he would leave his hours at wee hours, and would dispose the chopped off pieces of his girlfriend at several locations all across the national capital.
Arrest Made Thanks to Tip-Off
An investigation was kicked off in the case meanwhile. Based on a tip-off, the Delhi police recently arrested the accused Aftab and took him into questioning. During sustained questioning, he confessed of killing Shraddha after a quarrel with her got out of the hands.
