In a horrific incident, a Delhi-based woman was killed by her live-in boyfriend and was subsequently stuffed inside a fridge at a dhaba. Further, the accused in question married another woman on the same day as he committed the gruesome crime. The accused in the matter was identified as 24-year-old Sahil Gehlot, who lived with the victim, Nikki Yadav, at a rented residence in Delhi’s Dwarka area. The couple lived together at Dwarka residence since the lockdown ended.
According to reports, the accused had kept the information of his upcoming marriage a secret from his live-in partner. However, when Nikki learnt about the secret, an argument ensued between the couple. The argument escalated to a point of no return when the accused ended up strangling her. The matter came to the fore after the victim’s family could not reach her.
Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Ravindra Yadav told media that the accused was arrested earlier on Tuesday morning. A TOI report quoted the police officer saying, “He had strangled her with the data cable of his mobile phone in his white Verna car in the night of February 9-10. He then drove with the body to his dhaba located on a plot on the outskirts of village Mitraon and dumped it in the refrigerator there.”
The Facts of the Matter
While the Shraddha Walkar case continues to haunt the nation, with several questions raised around the issues of morality and safety when it comes to live-in relationships, another gruesome crime was reported from Delhi. In Delhi, a 24-year-old woman was killed by her live-in partner and dumped inside a fridge in dhaba. The accused then went on to marry another woman the same day.
The accused in the matter was identified as Sahil Gehlot, who was arrested earlier on Tuesday morning. The victim meanwhile was identified as Nikki Yadav, a Jhajjar resident.
Accused Met Victim in 2018
According to reports, the accused and the victim met each other back in January 2018 when Sahil had started his preparation for SSC exams at an Uttam Nagar-based coaching center. Sahil met Nikki at a time when she was studying for a medical entrance test at Akash institute.
Over the course of time, the couple got into a relationship and used to travel in the same bus, meet prior to taking their classes, and after the classes. The same year, the couple took admission at a college in Greater Noida under different courses.

Moving in Together as a Live-In Couple
They then moved into the same rented residence and their relationship saw them take holidays to different holiday spots such as Manali, Dehradun and more.
On the intervening night of February 9 and 10, the couple got involved in a heated argument. Reportedly, the accused had kept the fact that he is going to be married to another woman, a secret from Nikki.
The argument escalated to a point where the accused strangled his live-in girlfriend Nikki with a data cable. He then went to the dhaba he owned, dumped the corpse of his girlfriend inside a refrigerator. He then drove back to his residence, where he met his family, and got married to another girl on February 10.
Tip-Off Brings Matter to Fore
It was a tip-off that brought the matter to the fore. Cops in the area were given inputs about a woman being murdered and dumped into a fridge. An investigation was taken by crime branch, and the cops spoke to Sahil, who had killed Nikki on the same day he married another woman.

Accused arrested
On February 10, the cops also received a tip-off of a woman’s murder.
When the cops tried to reach out to the accused for further investigation, they found his phone to be switched off. On intensive search with the help of locals in the nearby areas, the accused was arrested from Kair village.
