In an incident that can be labelled as ‘destroyed in seconds’, a video has gone viral showing 3-storey Bengaluru building collapse in the Wilson Garden neighborhood of the city. Fortunately, the construction workers in the building had evacuated earlier on Sunday. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Details

Bengaluru has been riddled with tragedies in the past few weeks.

On September 14, two persons were thrown off the Electronic Flyover and fell 40 feet to their deaths after a speeding car hit them.

On September 18, a case of mysterious mass suicide was revealed where a family of 5, including a 9-month-old, reportedly died after committing suicide.

On September 22, two women died after being caught in an apartment fire that broke at Bommanahalli in southeast Bengaluru.

On September 27, a 3-storey in Bengaluru collapsed in the city’s Wilson Garden neighbourhood. This tragedy wasn’t as devastating as the ones mentioned above as no persons were killed or injured.

The Facts of the Matter

On Monday, a small cloud of dust gathered above the Wilson Garden neighbourhood in Bengaluru after a 3-storey building collapsed.

The incident was first reported when the residents of the building raised alarm to the authorities after they witnessed the building shake. On Sunday, September 27, the residents and the construction workers in the building were safely evacuated.

No Cause Ascertained Yet

After the incident was reported, Yashwanth Chauhan, the Bangalore Metro Rail corporation’s public officer claimed that they are yet to ascertain the details as to what caused the accident.

The officer further denied to make any more comments as to who the responsible party was in the matter.

Firefighters in Building Made it Out Minutes Before Collapse

According to a report from The News Minute, the fire officials claimed that the building’s collapse came due to its decayed and dilapidated condition. It should be noted that as many as 40 fire department officials barely made it as they had left the building just minutes before it crumbled and collapsed.

Reportedly, the workers in the building were evacuated to other facilities after they raised multiple alarming calls on the building’s stability.

What the Video Showed

The short 22 second video that surfaced after collapse how tragic the accident would’ve been had there been any residents in the building. The camera captures the unassuming lane with buildings on the both sides for the first few seconds.

However, the calm before the storm shatters as the building’s foundations gives in. Within the few seconds, one can see that first the foundation crumbles. Soon, the 3-storeyed building topples and collapses.

A huge cloud of dust and debris form as the locals rush to safety while firefighters try to gauge the situation.

The Infamous Delhi Sabzi Mandi Building Collapse

Earlier on September 13, a 3-storey building collapsed in North Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi area. This disaster led to the death of 2 children, aged 7 and 12. The two kids were brought out of the debris and had already succumbed to the injuries.

Initially, shop owners were charged with FIR in the case. However, probe revealed that the building’s collapse, and the death of the two kids was no one’s fault. The officers of NDMC were given clean chit in the matter, India Today reported.
